Ah, Bitcoin ETFs-the financial equivalent of a toddler on a sugar rush. 🍭 Last week, these funds experienced their third-largest outflow, a staggering $1.2 billion, while Ethereum products waved goodbye to $508 million. Not to be left out, Solana ETFs managed to scrape together $137 million in new money, proving that even in chaos, someone’s still betting on the underdog.

Despite the exodus, Bitcoin and Ethereum prices decided to play hopscotch, bouncing back by 4.4% and 7.2%, respectively. It’s almost as if they’re saying, “Sure, we’ve lost billions, but look how high we can jump!” 🚀
Market observers, ever the optimists, argue that this is just a trim after one of the strongest inflow streaks since early 2024. Because, you know, when you’re losing billions, it’s just a little haircut. 💇♂️
Meanwhile, Wall Street’s interest in crypto remains stronger than a bull in a china shop. BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF continues to rake in the dough, while Fidelity and VanEck are expanding their spot product lines. Yet, most of this institutional participation happens off-chain, as Wall Street still isn’t convinced that crypto infrastructure meets their standards of reliability. Imagine that-Wall Street wanting reliability! 😱
Wall Street Takes Over from Degens
As Annabelle Huang of Altius Labs aptly put it in a CoinDesk op-ed, crypto’s largest investors are buying exposure through ETFs rather than directly on-chain. Because, hey, why trust a blockchain when you can trust Wall Street? 🤷♀️
In a note to CoinDesk, market maker Enflux wrote that this shift reflects a broader evolution in crypto, as speculative trading gives way to professional infrastructure and mainstream financial integration. Or, in simpler terms, the Wild West is getting a Starbucks. ☕
“When the Fed injects, Bitcoin rallies; when yields twitch, it falls,” Enflux said. “The dream of decoupling is gone for now, and what’s left of the market will either professionalize or disappear.” Translation: Bitcoin’s future hinges on the Fed’s whims and Wall Street’s spreadsheet jockeys. Good luck with that. 🍀
