About
Bittersweet Birthday offers a compelling mix of tough, skillfully designed boss fights and a touching story. Each boss is a unique challenge with several stages, requiring players to be skilled at moving, timing their attacks, and thinking fast. Between battles, you’ll explore a world brimming with secrets, side quests, and interesting characters. The game is visually striking with its hand-drawn pixel art, features a cast you’ll remember, and includes fun mini-games. It creates a special atmosphere that’s both intense and charming.
The development teams just released a new trailer showcasing fresh gameplay footage and story cutscenes. It introduces Cerie, the protagonist’s latest major opponent – a spectral woman living in a decaying mansion near the Guardian’s village.
Characters
In *Bittersweet Birthday*, you’ll encounter important characters who play a role in the story – and you’ll end up battling them!
- Boy (protagonist) – A young prisoner with no memory of his past. Guided by a mysterious voice, he must escape a mysterious facility where he is hunted and piece together his identity.
- Rocc – The Guardian of a secluded village, a hothead who must always be prepared to face the wrath of the Great Evil, a being that once nearly destroyed humanity.
- Vega – The singer and guitarist of Metal Fang, a band performing their retirement concert in the Guardian’s village. No one knows how they managed to bypass the centuries-old mandate of isolation, but the setting certainly suits the stage.
- Cerie – A ghostly lady who remains the sole resident of a crumbling, long-abandoned mansion on the outskirts of the Guardian’s village. Not even death can wipe the smile from her face, though it hasn’t spared her from other, less pleasant emotions either.
Players will uncover how the Boy meets these characters and the secrets behind their connections to him – if they’re able to!
