Black Clover Is Speeding Towards the End, And It’s Ruining the Finale

The Black Clover manga is quickly approaching its ending, and many fans feel the current pace is rushing the story after years of careful development by creator Yuki Tabata. While the return of new chapters last month was exciting, the announcement that the series is entering its “Super Climax” and will likely conclude within just a few chapters has surprised many, especially considering earlier expectations of a much longer final arc.

As a huge fan, I’ve been following Black Clover closely since Yuki Tabata moved to a quarterly release schedule. It’s been great getting new chapters every few months as we see the final battles against Lucius Zogratis unfold! But honestly, the latest update feels really rushed. It seems like Tabata is trying to cram everything in to wrap things up by next Spring, and it’s a little disappointing to see major plot points fly by so quickly.

What’s Going On With Black Clover’s Final Arc?

The latest chapters of Black Clover (384-386) continue the story immediately after the previous arc. Asta has recovered from a near-fatal attack by Lucius, thanks to Mimosa’s healing. The new chapters quickly move the plot forward, covering ground that fans anticipated would take longer to unfold in the final battle. Notably, Noelle has rejoined Asta and fully recovered, regaining her ability to use the powerful Black Dragon form of her Valkyrie Dress.

Okay, so the story jumps back to the Land of the Sun, and it turns out one of those Lucius clones was absolutely wrecking things! He’d already taken down Shogun Ryuya and the entire Ryuzen Seven after Asta and Ichika returned home – honestly, we hadn’t really seen much of that fight until now. It feels like a big piece of the war that was glossed over, and it wraps up pretty quickly once that clone is defeated. But here’s the cool part: Ryuya reveals he’s been keeping an eye on Asta the whole time, waiting to see if he was ready for this moment. Now, he’s putting all his faith in Asta to save the day!

It feels like important events should have more weight, but the story rushes through them. Asta jumps back into the fight to aid Yuno, only to be confronted by a Paladin created from a copy of his mother. Asta and Liebe briefly debate fighting her, then defeat her almost instantly, and she doesn’t get a chance to say anything. Like before, a potentially powerful scene is quickly resolved and moves the story forward without much emotional impact.

Black Clover’s Ruining Its Grand Finale

Originally, giving Black Clover extra time for its final story arc was a smart move. It gave the author, Tabata, a more relaxed schedule, leading to two years of strong chapters that highlighted the important moments. However, as the final battle approaches, it’s becoming clear that Tabata intends to conclude the series with this fight. Unexpected plot twists, like Adrammalech turning against Lucius and being revealed as a light-magic devil capable of fusing with others – just like Yami – feel rushed and are all happening at once.

The series feels rushed and is sacrificing its previously strong pacing. It’s trying to wrap things up quickly, and important moments aren’t getting the attention they deserve. It seems the focus is on delivering an exciting final battle rather than developing the meaningful character arcs that fans have enjoyed.

The story of Black Clover still needs to resolve what happens with Asta and Yuno, and that’s likely where the series is headed as the current battle nears its conclusion. The manga is expected to end with a release in either January or March/April of 2026. Despite the effort put into making the final arc strong, the series seems to be moving quickly toward the end, possibly to coincide with the upcoming new anime. It’s disappointing to see it wrapping up so soon.
