Black Clover Might Be Ending Sooner Than You Think

Yuki Tabata’s popular action fantasy series, “Black Clover,” is nearing its conclusion as the battle against the antagonist becomes more intense. Following the exhilarating Spade Kingdom Raid, the story moves into its final act in 2022 with Chapter 332. Due to Tabata’s health concerns, the manga switched from “Weekly Shonen Jump” to “Jump GIGA,” and since then, it has been releasing two to three chapters per quarter. Fans have been delighted by vibrant, colorful pages and unexpected action-packed plot developments, while the artwork has been particularly impressive. In July 2025, fans received a surge of exciting news regarding projects for the manga’s 10th anniversary and the long-awaited announcement of an anime sequel after four years.

Last February marked the anniversary of the show, yet no new projects were revealed during that time, which was rather disheartening given its widespread popularity. Nevertheless, Shueisha had grand plans to celebrate this significant milestone, hence the delay may be due to the manga’s quarterly release schedule. Moving forward, the anime will pick up the story from where it left off in the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc, while the manga is preparing for its climax with the final battle almost concluded. The main antagonist, Lucius Zogratis, is causing turmoil in Clover Kingdom that surpasses anything they have experienced before.

The Final Fight Against Lucius Is All But Over

After everyone came back to Clover Kingdom, the climactic and continuous phase began. The battle against the devils was extremely fierce, yet tranquility reigned on the surface. However, it remained unbeknownst to all that Julius’ body had been taken over by Lucius Zogratis, his twin brother and the eldest Zogratis. Though they were two souls born in one body, Julius was always the one in control. Regrettably, the antagonist managed to seize control of Lucius’ soul, leading to a dramatic shift in events as the kingdom found itself once more engulfed in turmoil upon Lucius’ arrival.

In simpler terms, Lucius’ Soul Magic enabled him to shape and control souls, either by cleansing them or utilizing them for his advantage. The situation has been incredibly challenging as he faced a singular adversary who mysteriously acquired the power to dominate souls. This terrifying skill of his forced Lucius into conflict with the Magic Knights, causing them pain as they clashed not only with their living allies but also with departed ones. After a series of emotional battles, all the Paladins were vanquished, leaving the Magic Knights utterly drained, both mentally and physically.

As the battle reaches its climax, it’s down to Asta and Yuno – the last Magic Knights standing against our antagonist. Their collaborations have always been thrilling, and this time was no exception, with Yuno taking charge after Asta received a serious wound in the Spring 2025 episode of Black Clover. This also implies that we’ll have to say goodbye to one of Shonen Jump’s most cherished series a bit earlier than anticipated.

Black Clover May End in Less Than a Year

Over the past while, since the manga’s final storyline is unfolding, there’s been a lot of talk about how it will conclude. But, apart from Yuno’s confrontation with Lucius, nothing seems to suggest where this ongoing story might be heading. As you know, Black Clover doesn’t typically prolong fights over numerous chapters. Lucius has already unveiled his full power and form, so it looks like he’ll use them to eliminate Asta and Yuno to reach his objectives.

With Asta momentarily incapacitated, the author provides Yuno an opportunity to outshine once more. In this instance, the Captain of the Golden Dawn manages to employ Anti-Magic, made possible by Asta’s Demon Dweller sword. The recent plot developments have been exciting, but they also suggest that the antagonist may soon be vanquished. The Summer 2025 Jump GIGA issue, encompassing three chapters, will be available on August 12th, 2025 (August 11th in the U.S. time zone). Three chapters should suffice to either wrap up or set up the conclusion of the battle, with a suspenseful cliffhanger if necessary.

Given that Shonen Jump series typically don’t have extensive epilogues following the main battle’s conclusion, it’s possible that the Black Clover series will conclude by Winter 2026, or perhaps as early as Fall 2025, to allow ample time to delve into the aftermath of the recent conflict. Moreover, production studio Pierrot has confirmed an upcoming anime sequel. Given that the anime took a prolonged break following 2021 due to it nearing the manga’s progression, announcing the anime sequel suggests they won’t need to wait for new chapters on a quarterly basis. With the sequel slated for release next year, there’s a possibility that the manga may even wrap up before its debut.
