Good news for fans of the Netflix thriller Black Doves: filming for season 2 is now underway, and several new actors are joining the show!
Ambika Mod, known for her role in ‘One Day,’ is joining the cast of ‘Black Doves’ alongside Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Sarah Lancashire. She will play Laila, a sharp-witted and unconventional agent sent to assist Helen with a critical mission.
In addition to Mod, the series will feature Babou Ceesay (known for his role in ‘Alien: Earth’) as Mr Conteh, a powerful executive with hidden intentions. Sam Riley (from ‘Firebrand’) will play Patrick, who represents a secretive group and offers Sam help. Neve Campbell (of ‘Scream’ fame) will also star as Cecile Mason, though her character’s story is currently under wraps.
The cast is growing with new faces like Sylvia Hoeks (known for Blade Runner 2049), Goran Kostic (from Canary Black and Ant-Man and the Wasp), and Samuel Barnett (of Lee). They join returning actors including Andrew Buchan, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey, and Molly Chesworth.
As a fan, I’m so excited for season two! The producers, Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry from Sister, have said the new cast is fantastic – they’re bringing a lot of energy, some thrilling moments, and even a few surprises. They’ve promised it’s going to be even bigger and bolder than the first season, but still keep that wonderfully unpredictable feel we all loved.
In the second season of the show, Helen (played by Keira Knightley) continues to leak her country’s secrets to the secret group she works for, known as the Black Doves.
Following the difficulties of last Christmas and with her husband, Wallace (Andrew Buchan), about to become Prime Minister, she now faces an even more dangerous and delicate situation, according to the show’s description.
Helen reconnects with her close friend Sam (Ben Whishaw), who’s been spending his time drinking in Soho bars, just as her handler, the mysterious Mrs. Reed (Sarah Lancashire), becomes caught up in a dangerous scheme to take away her job within the Black Doves.
In their quest for truth, friendships become tools, trust disappears, and protecting loved ones might demand the ultimate sacrifice.
Helen and Sam return in a thrilling new mission, filled with the same sharp humor as before. Their journey revisits familiar faces – both allies and rivals – forcing them to confront difficult choices and past hurts as they get closer to uncovering the truth behind the Black Doves.
