Blake Shelton Addresses Gwen Stefani Divorce Rumors

Blake Shelton is tired of media speculation buzzing around him and his honeybee.

The singer, who used to be a coach on The Voice, recently spoke about the rumors that he and his wife, Gwen Stefani, are getting divorced. He also explained how these rumors have made him less trusting of the internet in general.

Blake Shelton said he first started seeing rumors about a split with Gwen Stefani around October or November. In an interview with County Countdown USA, he explained that articles claimed they weren’t even seeing each other and were heading for divorce. Then, just a week later, photos surfaced of them together, leading to reports that they were back together.

He joked that if they weren’t spotted at the grocery store for another week, people would assume they were getting divorced.

The singer of “Honey Bee,” who married Gwen in July 2021, also shared that all the rumors about their relationship have made him lose trust in the internet. He specifically mentioned that fake photos and videos of them have been spread around, contributing to his distrust.

He said he sometimes sees photos of himself and Gwen online that seem incredibly authentic, but then he realizes details are off – like he doesn’t even recognize the clothes or the car in the picture.

Blake said he doesn’t trust anything he sees online anymore, stating, “I really don’t believe anything I find on the internet.”

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, who first connected in 2014 as coaches on The Voice after both ending previous marriages – to Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale, respectively – are used to having their relationship play out in the public eye. Gwen recently shared her insecurities about the relationship, which actually inspired their song together, “Purple Irises.”

Gwen Stefani recently shared with NYLON magazine that she was struggling with self-doubt, wondering if she was losing her looks as she got older. She explained that even in a strong relationship, like her marriage to Blake Shelton, it’s easy to create unnecessary drama and worry about insecurities. She admitted to feeling paranoid during a phase in their relationship.

Okay, so Gwen… honestly, she’s had her moments, you know? She’s questioned things, but she knows Blake is the one! I mean, they’ve built this amazing life together, and she’s a mom to these incredible boys – Kingston, who’s 19, Zuma, 17, and little Apollo, who’s 11 – even though things with Gavin didn’t work out. But with Blake, it just feels right, like she finally found her forever person. I’m so happy for her!

I’m in love with my best friend,” the singer of “Rich Girl” explained. “Everything I’ve been worrying about is just me overthinking things.”

There have been lots of wild rumors about their marriage, but Gwen has gotten good at ignoring them.

When you’re deeply in love and share the same core beliefs, nothing anyone says matters. She explained, ‘People can spread rumors about our relationship – just last week, they were saying we were splitting up again – but it’s all false. We know the reality of things, and that’s what counts.’

Gwen told Ryan Seacrest in November 2015 that she found someone attractive, but also acknowledged it was strange they were both going through similar experiences at the same time. She explained that she’d been really comforted by people simply sharing their own stories with her—not necessarily in confidence, but just offering their perspectives, which helped her move forward.

Seriously, how can anyone not be completely obsessed? I mean, Blake said it himself on Today back in March 2018 – she’s just the greatest! The greatest! I knew it all along, but hearing him say it? Everything. It just… everything.

Look, when my heart shattered – and trust me, it shattered – I just needed to feel understood, you know? I was completely wrecked, honestly at the absolute lowest point of my life. And Gwen… Gwen saved me. Seriously. Who else could possibly get what it’s like to go through a messy, public divorce, especially when you’re both musicians? It was insane, and she just… got it. I told Billboard back in 2016, and it’s still true – she really did save my life.

“I grew up in Orange County, so I don’t know if you’ve been down there, but it’s nothing like the middle of America and our nature was the beach. So to be able to be in Oklahoma and be able to experience a ranch kind of vibe is just something I never ever had, so it’s just been really, it’s been great, amazing.” —Gwen on Jimmy Kimmel Live in August 2020

Gwen told Ellen DeGeneres that she’s a big fan of weddings and that everyone, including her kids, adores Blake. She described him as incredibly lovable and admitted she often thinks about their marriage.

Gwen Stefani says her style has become more traditionally feminine lately, which she attributes to being in a loving relationship with a very masculine partner. She explains that during her time with No Doubt, and even into her thirties, she didn’t consider herself particularly sexy, and generally preferred a more tomboyish look, rarely carrying a purse. Gwen was surprised when Blake told her People magazine wanted him for their Sexiest Man Alive issue, since he usually avoids photoshoots. She immediately encouraged him to do it, playfully telling him he was very attractive.

Gwen described Blake as captivating and exceptionally talented, saying he has a natural charisma that draws people in. She even compared him to a unicorn, emphasizing how unique and special he is. She shared these thoughts on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live in September 2019.

Blake Shelton tweeted in June 2018 that watching Gwen Stefani rehearse reminded him of how many incredible songs she’s written. He strongly encourages anyone who can to see her Las Vegas show!

Blake shared that someone helped him through a really difficult time, describing it like being saved from a dangerous fall. He said he’s never felt so supported by another person, always knowing she had his back, and it’s an incredible feeling. He said this on Good Dish in March 2022.

Gwen shared with People magazine in November 2024 that growing up, she always dreamed of marriage, a loving family like her parents had, and having children. When those dreams didn’t come true, she had to rebuild and create a new vision for her future. She sees meeting Blake as a turning point, a blessing that helped her do just that.

Gwen described meeting her husband as a fresh start, especially after the difficult experience of her family breaking up. She told The Guardian in November 2024 that it felt devastating at the time, and she wondered how she would recover, but she believes meeting him was a gift from God, allowing her to find love again.
