Released in 2015, *Bloodborne* quickly became a fan favorite on PlayStation 4 with its immersive gothic world and exciting, quick combat. Despite its popularity, it hasn’t been updated for newer consoles, which is frustrating considering the game sometimes struggles to run smoothly on PS4. For years, rumors have circulated about a potential remake by Sony and FromSoftware, offering hope for a much smoother gameplay experience. However, a recent report suggests a remake isn’t happening, leaving *Bloodborne* fans understandably disappointed.
According to Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, who discussed it on his Games Mess Decides podcast, he recently looked into the possibility of a *Bloodborne* remake and hasn’t found any evidence that one is in development. This came up while talking about games being released on PC, although a *Bloodborne* remake would likely come to both PC and PS5. It’s worth noting that while Grubb has accurately leaked information in the past, his reports aren’t always guaranteed to be true, so this news should be viewed with skepticism.
Bloodborne Remake Fan Reactions
Understandably, fans were upset and immediately took to Reddit to share their frustration after hearing the news. They’ve been hoping for this remake for almost ten years, and it’s disappointing that FromSoftware and Sony haven’t been able to make it a reality. One Reddit user, charliegs1996, perfectly summed up the feeling, saying, “I’m incredibly disappointed and this has really ruined my day.”
Despite the lack of news, many fans are jokingly holding onto hope, remembering how *Hollow Knight: Silksong* eventually got announced. One Redditor, 418_I_am_a_teapot, expressed this sentiment, saying, “Or that’s what they *want* us to believe – maybe a *Bloodborne* announcement is coming at the next State of Play!” They admitted to needing a lot of wishful thinking to stay optimistic.
Fans are clearly eager for a remake, so it’s puzzling why one hasn’t been made yet. Some worry the strong online demand might not reflect wider interest and the game wouldn’t be profitable. However, the long-awaited game *Silksong* proves that building hype online can lead to huge sales – it’s already sold over four million copies. While online fans are just a fraction of the total gaming community, they’re often very dedicated and will support games they’re passionate about.
The main reason we haven’t seen a continuation of *Bloodborne* likely comes down to the game’s creator, FromSoftware, and its director, Hidetaka Miyazaki. While Sony hasn’t officially confirmed it, rumors suggest Miyazaki insists on being directly involved in any future *Bloodborne* projects. He’s currently developing *The Duskbloods* for the Nintendo Switch 2 and previously led the development of *Elden Ring*. Unless he chooses *Bloodborne* as his next project, it seems unlikely we’ll see anything new from that world in the foreseeable future.
It’s important to remember that everything discussed is just guesswork at this point. We likely won’t know what FromSoftware is working on with *Bloodborne* for many years unless Sony or the studio makes an official announcement. As one Reddit user jokingly pointed out, maybe they’ll just keep re-releasing *The Last of Us* for future PlayStation consoles! But with *The Duskbloods* due out next year, we can expect to hear news about FromSoftware’s next game fairly soon.
