Sony has decided to stop releasing its major, story-driven PlayStation 5 games on PC, according to a new report from Bloomberg, citing sources within the company.
Games like Marathon and MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls will continue to be playable on computers. However, Ghost of Yotei and the new game Saros will only be available on the PlayStation 5, according to sources.
Recent reports suggest Sony Interactive Entertainment has cancelled plans to release games like Ghost of Yotei on PC, along with other games they were developing internally.
Games published by Sony Interactive Entertainment that were made by other developers, like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora, are still expected to come out on PC this year.
Some people at Sony Interactive Entertainment worried that putting games on PC could weaken the PlayStation brand and lead to lower sales of the PlayStation 5 and future consoles.
As a huge fan, I’ve been so excited to see Sony start bringing their amazing single-player games to PC! It started back in 2020 with Horizon Zero Dawn, and since then they’ve released so many others – like God of War (the 2018 one), God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, and even the whole Marvel’s Spider-Man series. It’s awesome, even if we PC players have to wait a little while after the PlayStation release!
A spokesperson for Sony Interactive Entertainment declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg.
