Blue Eye Samurai Creators Tease Season 2’s New Location

The highly successful anime series, “Blue Eye Samurai,” is currently developing its second season on Netflix, and the producers are hinting at a significant new setting that will be featured in the upcoming episodes. The first season of “Blue Eye Samurai” captivated audiences with its unique portrayal of Mizu, a protagonist fueled by revenge, as it concluded with a cliffhanger promising that she would have to travel to an entirely foreign land to carry out her ultimate vengeance. Now we get to witness the unfolding events in this novel setting.

At Anime NYC 2025 during Netflix’s presentation, Blue Eye Samurai unveiled a sneak peek at Season 2. The first trailer for the upcoming episodes left co-creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green hinting about what’s to come in Mizu’s ongoing adventure. With the season finale leaving viewers on edge, they offered tantalizing tidbits about the challenges that await Mizu as she heads to London, ready to eliminate more of her targets.

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Teases New London Location

In a playful manner, Noizumi hinted about Mizu’s unchanged path for the upcoming Season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai. He emphasized her unwavering pursuit of revenge as being almost like a religious conviction. Green further built on this tease by mentioning the introduction of London as a backdrop, suggesting that at least two of Mizu’s targets may be residing in this mystical city called London. Intriguingly, the preview hinted at an early scene where Mizu is seen sneaking into a location to carry out an assassination. Green also suggests that the events of Season 2 might occur after some significant events that transpired between seasons.

In addition to introducing characters such as Swordmaker, Ringo, Taigen, and Akemi who will appear in the upcoming season, Noizumi hinted that there might be some surprising comebacks from characters believed to be deceased. “There are also going to be maybe some people you thought died, who maybe are still alive,” he said. With Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 now in full production with Netflix, we can prepare ourselves for what may lie ahead for Mizu as she embarks further on her vengeful journey, following the trajectory set by the episodes shown so far.

When Does Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Come Out?

As of now, Netflix hasn’t specified a release window or date for Blue Eye Samurai Season 2. However, production on the series has been ongoing for quite some time. Michael Green, one of the co-creators, shared his excitement about the project with ComicBook last year when discussing the Emmy nomination for Best Animated Series (which they ultimately won). He mentioned that the team is eagerly working on it and are determined to push their creative limits even further, improving upon what they’ve already achieved while attempting some truly groundbreaking new ideas.

During that interview, Green admitted they were already developing the premiere episode of the upcoming season while sneakily working on it. “In truth, we’re skipping school for it,” Green said. “Once our conversation with you ends, we’ll log in and check our emails to see the latest design sketches or early drafts of storyboards for our first episode.” Given that Blue Eye Samurai clinched an Emmy for its initial season and defeated some formidable contenders along the way, anticipation for Season 2 is undoubtedly growing.
