Blue Lights season 3 release date confirmed – cast say it’s “best so far”

After a year and a half since the last episodes aired, we finally have a return date for the popular police drama, Blue Lights.

Season three will be released all at once on BBC iPlayer on Monday, September 29th. The first episode will also be shown on BBC One at 9pm the same day.

Earlier this year, Nathan Braniff, who plays Tommy Foster, hinted that the upcoming third season would be the strongest one yet. Siân Brooke, star of Grace Ellis, agreed, praising the writing as significantly improved, saying she’s amazed by how consistently excellent it is.

She explained that the show’s characters are well-developed and unique, which is why viewers have connected with them and are invested in finding out what happens next.

The first two seasons of the show were released only a year apart, but it took a bit longer for the third season to come out. This was mainly because the show was renewed for both a third and fourth season at the same time.

As a fan, I learned that the writers had to do a lot of extra planning and work together to make sure the storylines from two different seasons connected and told one bigger, more complete story. It wasn’t just two separate adventures – they really wanted everything to feel linked!

The BBC has announced that all of the show’s main actors will return, and they’ll be joined by new cast members Cathy Tyson, from *Dune: Prophecy*, and Michael Smiley, known for *Bad Sisters*.

Now two years into their careers as first responders, Grace, Annie, and Tommy have settled into the demanding realities of working in law enforcement.

However, their investigation will lead them into a dark and dangerous underworld concealed beneath the surface of ordinary suburban life – a world populated by the professionals, like accountants and lawyers, who help criminals operate.

The traditional power structures of politics and crime have collapsed in Belfast, replaced by a new wave of international criminal groups. This puts our officers in more danger than ever before, bringing threats right to their doorstep.
