Bobbi Althoff Says Her Face is Paralyzed After “Botched” Botox

Bobbi Althoff is sharing the downsides of her cosmetic procedure.

The host of Not This Again talked about her two times getting Botox, explaining that her most recent injections made her face feel very stiff.

In a recent TikTok video, Bobbi explained why she has limited facial movement. She shared that in 2023, she received Botox from someone who recommended it, and the procedure unfortunately affected her ability to smile. Specifically, the practitioner injected 20 units of Botox into her chin, which caused the issue.

After experiencing an unpleasant side effect, the 28-year-old, who became well-known in 2023 for her podcast, The Really Good Podcast, developed a fear of Botox. But she’s now considering it again after seeing a jaw specialist for long-term jaw pain.

She remembered the doctor scanning her jaw with a CT scan and then telling her the issue wasn’t with the bone, but with a muscle. He then asked if she’d ever considered Botox for her jaw, to which she replied that she had tried it before, but hadn’t had a good experience.

Even though she was hesitant, she said he promised the injections would relax her muscles. After deciding to go ahead with it, Bobbi—who has two daughters, 5-year-old Luca and 3-year-old Isla, with her ex-husband Cory Althoff—received 25 units of Botox on each temple, which she thought was a high dose at the time.

And now that the Botox is starting to settle, she realized that her gut instinct was right.

Bobbi explained that her face felt frozen, saying, “My eyes feel stuck, but the really awful part is I can’t even smile.” She described feeling intense tension and pain in her face.

The influencer continued to experience problems, telling her dentist she was having trouble speaking and that eating was painful. Unfortunately, the dentist advised her that she’d need to wait several months before they could dissolve the injections.

She admitted she was worried about how the treatment would affect her appearance, but felt powerless to stop it. She said she expected to look silly for the next three months.

Bobbi isn’t alone in having a negative experience with Botox. Singer Meghan Trainor, 30, recently shared that she had several Botox and filler injections that changed her smile.

She admitted on her podcast, Workin’ On It, last December that someone talked her into getting a lip flip – a procedure where filler is injected just above the upper lip – believing it would give her a naturally lifted smile. Unfortunately, it didn’t work as expected, and now she’s lost the ability to smile normally.

She expressed her hope on Instagram that her children would never feel so insecure about their bodies that they’d consider drastic measures to become thin. I actually had my neck treated with Ellivate back in 2019 by a great doctor. I’ve also had a tiny bit of lip filler, because my face is pretty small, and I don’t want anything too dramatic. And just to be clear, I haven’t had filler anywhere else, and definitely no eyelid surgery yet! Hopefully that answers everyone’s questions, and I’ll be sure to update you all if I decide to get anything else done in the future.
