Bobby Sherman, ’60s teen star and Little Woman singer, dies aged 81

81-year-old Bobby Sherman, a popular singer and actor known as a teen heartthrob during the late 1960s and ’70s, has passed away.

It’s deeply sad to report that he has recently passed away. Only a few months ago, his wife, Brigitte Poublon, disclosed that he had been diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer (stage four).

In the realm of cinema, I’ve been fortunate to witness a lifetime of love stories on the silver screen. But none could compare to the real-life tale I lived with my beloved Bobby. As he took his final bow in this world, he held my hand – a symbol of the unyielding grip he had on our lives for the 29 radiant years we were married. Love, courage, and an undying grace defined not just our marriage, but every moment we shared together.

It went on: “I was his fairytale princess, while he was my dashing knight. Despite his last struggles, he remained resilient for my sake. And that’s the essence of Bobby – courageous, kind-hearted, and radiant with warmth.

As a born-on-the-22nd of July, 1943, movie enthusiast here, I had my big break in the world of acting during the swinging ’60s when I was chosen to star on the ABC rock ‘n’ roll show, Shindig! It was an unforgettable experience that kick-started my career.

However, it was his role as the shy Jeremy Bolt, one of three brothers, that catapulted him to stardom on the ABC series Here Come the Brides from 1968-1970.

Afterward, he started featuring in the spin-off series titled “Getting Together,” centered around a songwriter pursuing a thriving music career. This role eventually sparked his own singing career to soar.

In 1969-70, he enjoyed significant success as four of his songs reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100: “Little Woman”, “La La La (If I Had You)”, “Julie”, “Do Ya Love Me” and “Easy Come, Easy Go”.

In addition, he earned three straight gold albums with releases such as “Bobby Sherman” (1969), “Here Comes Bobby” (1970), and “With Love, Bobby” (also from 1970). Moreover, his album “Bobby Sherman’s Christmas Album” proved to be a popular holiday hit in 1971.

Sherman’s popular hits and television performances led to him being widely recognized as a teen idol, often gracing the pages of magazines like Tiger Beat and 16 on a regular basis.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege to take on several notable roles in cinematic productions. Among them are Wild in Streets, He Is My Brother, and Get Crazy, each of which I was honored to be a part.

Together with his longtime spouse, Sherman, who they were married for 29 years, are also mourned by their two sons, Tyler and Christopher, as well as six grandchildren.
