Bob’s Burgers Star Eugene Mirman Breaks Silence After Fiery Car Crash Left Him Hospitalized

Animators were deeply worried this week when news broke that Eugene Mirman, the voice of Bob Belcher on Bob’s Burgers, was in a serious car accident in New Hampshire. His car hit the Bedford Toll Plaza and caught fire, trapping him inside. Thankfully, quick-thinking bystanders, a state trooper, and even Governor Kelly Ayotte worked together to rescue him from the burning vehicle.

After the accident, fans of Bob’s Burgers worried about Eugene Mirman’s health and whether it would affect his voice acting career. Now, Mirman has shared an update with fans, letting them know how he’s recovering and what to expect next.

Bob Burger’s Star Post Recovery Message After Major Accident

Eugene Mirman shared on Instagram how grateful he is for the outpouring of support he’s received from friends and even people he doesn’t know. He especially thanked the people who rescued him from his car and the wonderful hospital staff who helped him recover. Considering everything that happened, he’s feeling surprisingly good and is deeply thankful to be alive.

True to his comedic style, Mirman shared an update with fans and the media that had a playful, sarcastic edge. He posted a picture of himself with one hand bandaged, holding a book called “Life is an Adventure,” and used this image to add a layer of irony to his message.

Mirman explained that he’s been offline because he doesn’t have his phone. He jokingly advised against his approach to cutting down on screen time. He also shared that it was difficult not to accept podcast invitations from friends who reached out with supportive messages, adding, ‘I love you all and please take care of yourselves, Eugene.’

As a longtime viewer, I’ve watched Eugene Mirman absolutely become Gene Belcher over the 16 seasons (and still going!) of Bob’s Burgers. Gene, the Belcher family’s wonderfully odd 11-year-old, is a budding comedian – think silly, sometimes gross-out jokes and a whole lot of keyboard sound effects. He’s always playfully frustrating his dad, Bob, who’s a hardworking, no-nonsense guy. But what’s really struck me throughout the series is how Gene, despite all the goofiness, has proven to be just as emotionally complex and genuinely heartfelt as anyone else in the Belcher family.

Mirman’s wit is still sharp, thankfully, just like he seems to be physically. We’re wishing him a quick recovery! Join the conversation about Bob’s Burgers Season 16 on the ComicBook Forum!
