Nekcom Games has announced that their upcoming PS5 game, Showa American Story, will launch in 2026. The game is expected to be a uniquely exciting experience for players.
Showa American Story was first announced in January 2022, and after a lengthy development process, the studio says it’s nearing completion. They’ve delayed the release slightly to make sure the game is as polished and high-quality as possible.
In a statement, executive producer Xy Luo acknowledged that fans are disappointed with the delay, and apologized for the continued wait. She explained that the extra time will be used to ensure ‘Showa American Story’ is as high-quality as fans expect.
The game takes place in a reimagined world where Japan has essentially taken control of most of the United States, making Japanese culture dominant. But everything changes when a massive disaster strikes, collapsing society as we know it. After an unspecified amount of time, a teenage girl unexpectedly comes back to life and finds herself in a dangerous, new post-apocalyptic landscape filled with zombies, monsters, and diverse groups of human survivors.
