Update [Thu 7th Aug 2025, 10pm]:
The latest update for Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has just been released, featuring the addition of four new characters to Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper. You can download it right away!
To fight alongside Eagle, Maki, Yun, or Ingrid in your game, remember to activate them first within the Game Settings prior to launching the ROM. After this step, they’ll appear as options on the character selection screen.
This update is truly astonishing, since these four characters were previously exclusive to the PSP edition of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.
Both versions maintain the original meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language.
Instead of Capcom Fighting Collection 2 being built upon arcade ROMs, implying they were essentially hacked in by Capcom, it might be more accurately stated as: The games in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 are derived directly from their original arcade versions, a fact that some may find surprising.
Hey there! As a die-hard fan, I’m super excited about the latest update that brings in some brand new art and tunes, not to mention the enhancements made to the Plasma Sword’s training mode. Can’t wait to dive in and give it a try, how about you?
Exciting news for enthusiasts of Capcom Fighting Collection 2! The game is receiving a complimentary update on the 7th of August, which will incorporate the four characters that were originally exclusive to the PSP in Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper.
Back in 2002, Crawfish Interactive took Street Fighter Alpha 3 and gave it a new home on the Game Boy Advance. They even introduced three new characters – Eagle, Maki, and Yun – into the game for players to enjoy.
Initially, those three characters were added to the exceptional PlayStation Portable (PSP) edition of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max known as the arcade perfect version. Ingrid, who had previously only appeared in the criticized Capcom Fighting Evolution for the PS2, was also included in this lineup.
Four new characters are being added to Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper in the Capcom Fighting Collection 2, resulting in an ultimate version of the game. To help fans familiarize themselves with Ingrid before she becomes available as DLC for Street Fighter 6 next year, these new characters also offer a high-quality gaming experience where they can practice playing with her.
Alongside the existing four characters, the game will introduce some fresh gameplay modes. These include Normal, Mazi, Saikyo, and Classic. From what we gather, Mazi boosts the amount of damage you can inflict, while Saikyo reduces it. On the other hand, Classic simplifies the game by removing many contemporary features such as Supers and similar mechanics.
Alongside these features, you’ll encounter fresh artwork, reworked music by Capcom’s top-notch sound crew, and an upgrade to the Plasma Sword that enhances your ability to analyze each character’s combo sequences in the training mode.
Just to reiterate, all of this is free.
It’s not necessary to mention, but let me clarify that we strongly endorse this game, given that we bestowed it with a score of 9/10 in our Capcom Fighting Collection 2 PS4 critique.
Although it lacks certain single-player modes from the original console versions due to its focus on arcade conversions, this collection is jam-packed with high-quality content that makes it challenging to find fault. Titles like Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper are strong contenders for being among the best fighting games ever created.
