Mark Gatiss’s detective series “Bookish” is set to unveil some major updates regarding its second season, and there’s a possibility that it could come out faster than expected.
The drama, which can be watched in its entirety on Sky, Virgin, BT, and TalkTalk (and is currently being broadcast on U&Alibi), has already been given the green light for a second season prior to its premiere.
Currently, the series has been captivating audiences, and its creator, Mark Gatiss, shared some updates through the U&Alibi Instagram account.
On a post shared last Friday (August 1st), Gatiss was seen standing beside a sign that said, “Read-through for Bookish season 2.”
Today, we delved into the fantastic drafts of the Bookish Series Season 2! Can’t wait until 2026 arrives.
It seems like I’m looking forward to the possibility of watching the second season unfold next year, putting an end to all the anticipation and guesswork about its release date.
Previously, it was announced that the shooting for season 2 would start in summer 2025. The recent script reading suggests that the filming might not be much longer.
It’s yet uncertain when the show will come back in 2026, but it might be around summer 2026 given the fast pace at which production has progressed thus far.
Developed and featuring Mark Gatiss, known for his roles in Doctor Who, Sherlock, The League of Gentlemen, and more, the series titled “Bookish” revolves around Gabriel Book, proprietor of an antiquarian bookstore in 1946 London, who assists the police in resolving a range of intricate mysteries.
Approximately every other episode, Book embarks on a fresh case, weaving multiple plotlines across the show. Some of these plots will carry over into season 2.
For this purpose, it’s been verified that the main actors from season 1 will return for another round. Specifically, Gatiss will team up with Polly Walker, Connor Finch, Elliot Levey, Blake Harrison, and Buket Kömür again.
