Bookish season 2 releases first look at new episodes and starry new cast members – plus a Sherlock reunion

Good news for fans eager to see more of Bookish: the first photos from season 2 are here, showing Mark Gatiss returning as Gabriel Book alongside the rest of the main cast.

Joining Gatiss, who stars in and created the show, are returning cast members Polly Walker as Trottie Book, Connor Finch as Jack Blunt, Elliot Levey as Inspector Bliss, Blake Harrison as Sergeant Morris, Buket Kömür as Nora, and Nadia Albina as Dr. Calder.

I’m so thrilled to hear that Rosie Cavaliero, Gerard Horan, and Jonas Nay are returning for another season! And it’s amazing news that we’ll be seeing Rupert Graves, who I loved in Sherlock, as a guest star too – along with other familiar faces. I can’t wait!

As a huge fan of the Sherlock Holmes universe, I’m thrilled to see Mark Gatiss and Tim Pigott-Smith (Graves) sharing the screen again – they were brilliant as Mycroft and Lestrade! The new cast looks fantastic too – we’ll be seeing Jason Watkins as Harold Sneed, Miranda Richardson as Duchess Alberta, Simon Callow in a role called ‘E’, Claire Skinner as Mrs. Calthrop, and Youssef Kerkour as Yusuf. The photos are already hinting at some amazing performances!

Ruth Codd, known for appearing on The Traitors, has joined the cast and will play a character named India Flynn. A promotional image shows India holding a camera.

Season 2 follows Book as he delves into the world of spiritualism, tasked with unraveling a puzzling case connected to medium Harold Sneed, played by Watkins.

Just off Savile Row, Bliss enlists Book’s help with a strange murder at a men’s clothing shop. An elderly tailor, Maxie Kleinmann, insists he’s the killer, but the clues don’t add up, suggesting a much more complicated and disturbing situation.

Book and Jack are dispatched by a mysterious figure known only as ‘E’ to the picturesque German village of Würl, tasked with stopping a Duchess known for her thievery during the Christmas season. But the holiday cheer quickly vanishes when they stumble upon unsettling secrets – both from their own histories and current events – within a foreboding castle full of people who could be murderers.

Book’s work with the police puts him in constant danger, and his seemingly perfect marriage to his childhood friend, Trottie, is jeopardized by the charming Colonel Winters. This stylish detective drama blends the feel of post-war life with the energy and excitement of the era, offering a unique take on the period genre.
