It was previously verified that Borderlands 4 would be available on Nintendo Switch 2, but specific details about its launch date were scarce. However, this has recently changed.
Originally slated for a 23rd September launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, the game’s release date was brought forward due to the remarkable pace of its development. As a devoted fan, I can hardly wait!
It seems that rapid development also affected the second Switch version of the game, as the port was released just three weeks following its initial launch.
In a more recent social media post, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford announced that Borderlands 4 is set to launch for Nintendo’s Switch 2 console on October 3rd, 2025.
Earlier on, our knowledge regarding the port’s launch was limited to the fact that it was planned for some point at the end of 2025. Generally, enthusiasts anticipated that it would come out sometime between late November and early December, ideally making its debut before the festive season of Christmas.
It’s evident that Gearbox was cognizant of this matter, as Pitchford explicitly mentioned it in the announcement.
He playfully pointed out that it was far too early for either Christmas or Thanksgiving, as we are still quite a ways off from those festive holidays.
Although there was a minor uproar about the game’s initial pricing, the anticipation for the game remains strong. The new release aims to address concerns raised by fans following Borderlands 3 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, two games that faced player criticism.
During a recent interview, our main scriptwriter, Taylor Clark, stated that they take fan feedback seriously in shaping the game’s progression, a strategy that seems to be yielding positive results.
During a hands-on trial of Borderlands 4, we found several exciting modifications to the gameplay that left us quite impressed.
It’s yet to be determined whether the buzz surrounding the game will lead to strong sales and recognition upon its release in September. However, if it does, there’s a good chance that numerous individuals who own the rumored Switch 2 console will eagerly wait in line for their copies when October arrives.
