Game Informer recently shared an intriguing interview about the making of Gearbox Entertainment’s Borderlands 4, focusing on the development of new loot. The discussion is engaging, offering insights into the unique feel of each weapon and the game’s procedural generation system. Moreover, they reveal a fresh, unexplored region in the game.
As a fan, I’d describe it as the Wastelands – a sprawling, sandy expanse dotted with remnants of a once-industrious civilization. The industrial vibe here is far more prominent than the serene Faded Fields. It’s not just about walking; you’ll find plenty of opportunities for climbing, particularly in what appear to be former enemy strongholds. In many ways, it echoes the lawless locales of Pandora, teeming with bandits and challenges aplenty.
In the latest update, Moxxi’s fresh hideout is unveiled, and Zane from Borderlands 3 makes an appearance, albeit in a non-player capacity. Additionally, a hint of The Tip Jar emerges, suggesting it will operate much like its counterpart in Borderlands 2, allowing players to donate money for the possibility of obtaining new firearms.
Kairos boasts two additional regions as-yet unveiled by Gearbox, so keep an eye out for further updates. The release of Borderlands 4 is set for September 12th on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC priced at $69.99. A future launch on Nintendo Switch 2 is also planned.
