Gearbox Entertainment, the team behind *Borderlands 4*, is preparing an update with significant changes. Because of how much the update will impact gameplay, creative director Graeme Timmins has warned players on social media to prepare their character builds with a week’s notice before the changes are implemented.
Timmins announced on X (formerly Twitter) that a small update is live now, with a bigger update coming next week. The next update will address issues with certain equipment and unexpected glitches. This serves as a seven-day warning for those changes.
I just saw that Timmins posted about this right after the new *Borderlands 4* update dropped! It’s a pretty small update, mostly just tweaking some of the gear. They’re really listening to what players are saying, which is awesome, and plan to use our feedback for future updates. And heads up – Timmins said they’re sending out a seven-day warning about something next week, so we should keep an eye out for that!
Gearbox announced that their next update, coming next week, will fine-tune several items – including Class Mods, Repkits, Shields, and Firmware – to better support close-range combat styles and improve other character builds that are currently underperforming. They’ll also fix some unexpected issues with character skills and adjust gear that’s too powerful. In addition to these gameplay changes, the update will improve the game’s stability, performance, and add several quality-of-life improvements players have been asking for.
Here are the patch notes for the latest update to *Borderlands 4*, now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Plus, some reports suggest a character from *Borderlands 3*, Ava, might appear in the new game’s story. You can also find our *Borderlands 4* review here.
