Borderlands 4 Gets Update Focusing on Crashes Caused by GPU, Animations and Collision

Following problems with performance and technical glitches in the newly released co-op shooter *Borderlands 4*, Gearbox Entertainment has released an update to fix some of the biggest issues. This update doesn’t add any new content to the game; instead, it focuses on minor bug fixes to improve gameplay, progression, and stability by addressing crashes.

This update improves the game’s stability by fixing crashes related to character and enemy movements, sound, and how objects interact. PC players will also find fixes for crashes caused by their graphics cards. We’ve also addressed a few smaller issues, including one that prevented progress in the “Talk to Zadra” mission and another that stopped the Reward Center from working after claiming rewards from the Gilded Glory Pack. You can find a full list of changes in the patch notes below.

The studio also announced that *Borderlands 4* will receive weekly updates. These updates will change the items available in Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine, move its location, and introduce a tougher version of an existing boss called the Weekly Big Encore, along with new Weekly Wildcard Missions.

Gearbox has previously announced an update for console versions of the game that will include a field of view slider. They’re currently testing this update internally and are also looking into reports of performance problems some console players are experiencing.

Studio head Randy Pitchford acknowledged performance problems on the PS5 and PS5 Pro as a known issue in *Borderlands 4*. He suggested players restart the game if they notice performance decreasing. Players believe this might be caused by a memory leak, as the game seems to run smoothly at first but slows down after extended playtime.

Regarding the PC version of *Borderlands 4*, Randy Pitchford explained on social media that PC players had unrealistic expectations. He suggested that anyone dissatisfied with potential compromises between graphics quality and smooth gameplay should request a refund.

Pitchford stated that players are free to play the game as they choose, but if they’re unhappy with it, they should request a refund through Steam. He explained that trying to force a game to perform in a way it wasn’t designed for is like putting a high-performance engine in the wrong vehicle – it simply won’t work as expected. He offered to help players improve their experience if they shared their system specifications.

You can now play *Borderlands 4* on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3rd. Read our review to learn more!
