Even though some players have had issues with how well *Borderlands 4* runs on PCs, resulting in mixed reviews, it’s still the most successful launch in the series’ history on Steam. At its peak, 288,130 players were playing the game at the same time, according to SteamDB.
This number is much larger than the peak for *Borderlands 2*, which previously held the record at almost 125,000 players at the same time. *Borderlands 3* reached 93,820 concurrent players, but that game originally launched as a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store, making it a bit of an exception.
According to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, the next *Borderlands* game, *Borderlands 4*, is expected to bring the total series sales to 100 million. It will be interesting to see how well the new game sells, considering *Borderlands 2* has already sold over 30 million copies and *Borderlands 3* has surpassed 23 million.
Borderlands 4 is now available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. We gave it a score of 8 out of 10 in our review, which you can read here. Plus, it will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3rd.
