The latest update for Borderlands 4, while intended to fix minor issues like bugs with vending machines and a rare item drop, has received some criticism. It appears the update unintentionally reintroduced a glitch that lets players consistently land critical hits.
So, that crazy glitch we call the ‘crit knife’ was supposedly fixed last week in an update. But it looks like it’s back! People are posting videos online showing that if you throw the crit knife at the same enemy multiple times, the bonus to your critical hit chance just keeps stacking. It’s a pretty big bug since it can boost your crit chance by a ton, and honestly, it’s kind of hilarious to see it happen again.
One player pointed out that throwing a knife at an enemy can boost your chance to land a critical hit to 90%. The remaining 10% is easily achievable through other equipment, effectively guaranteeing a 100% critical hit rate.
A user on X, EpicNNG, pointed out that the original, powerful ‘crit knife’ has been reintroduced to the game. They questioned how this change was approved during testing, asking if the team only focused on fixing a previous issue without considering any potential new problems. They expressed confusion about how the change made it into the live game.
Borderlands 4 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A version for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is also planned, but its release has been delayed while the developers at Gearbox work to ensure the game runs smoothly on the new console.
Okay, so Gearbox just announced the first paid DLC for Borderlands 4 – it’s called Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day and it drops on November 20th. Basically, some dude named Minister Screw is trying to ruin the holidays, and we get to stop him! It’s not just story missions though, they’re also adding a Vault Card. This lets you unlock a bunch of cool cosmetic stuff for your guns and character, which is awesome. I’m definitely checking it out!
Borderlands 4 October 30, 2025 patch notes:
- The Gravitar Class Mod, Reactor, now drops from Inceptus as intended.
- The Order Legendary Grenade Skully has been adjusted to properly increase damage of projectiles at higher levels. Also addressed an audio issue with the fire effects that were causing it to not lower in volume with distance.
- Corrected the Knife Penetrator Augment, which was unintentionally setting all attacks to a 30% critical chance.
- Interacting with Dr. Zed’s Meds and Guns vending machines and Lost Loot machines will now reset any Action Skills, Ordnance, or Repkits currently on cooldown.
- Reduced the audio volume on the wings of world boss Spidananggal.
Gearbox has reintroduced the original critical hit knife. It’s surprising how this made it through testing – it seems they only confirmed the initial issue was resolved without looking for any new problems or negative consequences. I’m really puzzled as to how it was approved.
