Right now until February 4th, some Borderlands fans can get a free Borderlands game! To claim it, you’ll need an Amazon Prime subscription. The free game is offered through Prime Gaming and is delivered as a PC code for the Epic Games Store. While the game is available on consoles, this offer is only for the PC version through the Epic Games Store, and codes are limited.
For the next two days, PC users with an Amazon Prime membership can download New Tales From the Borderlands completely free. With over 200 million Amazon Prime subscribers, this free game is an extra perk for many, as most people don’t sign up just for the free games offered through Prime Gaming.
Spin-Off Borderlands Game
The Borderlands series began in 2009 with the first Borderlands game. Borderlands 2 followed in 2012, along with the first spin-off, Borderlands Legends. The next year brought the Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep expansion for Borderlands 2. Gearbox then released Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel in 2014, and the series’ second spin-off, Tales from the Borderlands, also came out that year. Fans waited five years for Borderlands 3 in 2019. In 2022, a sequel to Tales from the Borderlands, called New Tales from the Borderlands, was released as a free game, alongside another spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Most recently, Borderlands 4 came out last year.
While the original Tales from the Borderlands was a critical success developed by Telltale Games, New Tales from the Borderlands was created by an internal team at Gearbox and received largely negative reviews. Its Metacritic score currently ranges from 57 to 69. If you’ve been wondering about the game but hesitant to spend $40, now’s a great chance to try it and see if it lives up to the critical disappointment without risking a costly purchase.
Like all Prime Gaming offers, once you claim this free download, it’s yours to keep permanently. You need an active Prime subscription to get it initially, but you don’t need to maintain the subscription to continue owning it.
