Following several weeks of questions and guesses, Universal Orlando Resort has announced that Stardust Racers, the high-speed racing coaster at Epic Universe, will reopen tomorrow afternoon, October 4, 2025. What started as a possible rumor was confirmed by That Park Place, who spoke directly with a Universal employee by phone.
A Troubled Start for a Headliner
I was so excited for Stardust Racers to open at Epic Universe – it was definitely one of the most talked-about rides! It’s a really fast, head-to-head coaster where two trains race right next to each other across the park’s amazing new scenery. It quickly became my favorite because of how fast it is, the cool inversions, and how they combined classic roller coaster fun with some really new, impressive technology. It’s a must-do! Seriously, I rode it multiple times!

The initial enthusiasm was unfortunately dampened by a tragic accident on September 17, 2025. Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, aged 32, died in an incident that state officials ruled as accidental. This led to immediate investigations, and Universal was forced to temporarily close the attraction to allow for thorough safety checks.
The incident also generated significant national news coverage, as civil rights lawyer Ben Crump held a press conference demanding responsibility and increased openness regarding safety measures at the theme park.
Calls for Closure vs. Enthusiast Demands
The event immediately sparked disagreement among the public. Crump and others who supported his position insisted the coaster stay shut down until a thorough investigation could assure visitors it was safe. At the same time, fans of the coaster and regular park visitors started online campaigns, asking Universal to reopen the ride, highlighting that it was one of the park’s main attractions and a key part of the experience.

Discussions on platforms like X, TikTok, and various fan forums, using hashtags such as #ReopenStardustRacers, suggested the coaster could make a comeback – even better than before – if new safety measures were implemented.
Universal’s Safety Updates
Universal has stated that while the ride was closed, engineers and safety specialists thoroughly inspected the Stardust Racers systems. They made changes to how the restraints work, revised the height and weight limits for riders, and added extra safety inspections before each ride begins.

Although specific technical information wasn’t shared, a representative from Universal told us that the changes made meet-and in some cases go beyond-worldwide theme park safety regulations. The ride’s height restrictions have been raised a little, and the staff who operate it received extra training to make sure they follow the updated procedures carefully.
Anticipation for Tomorrow’s Stardust Racers Reopening
Good news for fans! Universal has announced that Stardust Racers will be available to guests again tomorrow afternoon, October 4, 2025. Please keep in mind that it won’t be open when the park first opens for the day.
Many people are expected to arrive early, and lines could become quite long as both dedicated coaster fans and those simply curious about the ride wait for their turn to be among the first to experience it again. Expect delays as the crowds build.

Theme park experts believe that Universal’s approach to this situation – carefully considering both guest safety and what fans want – could build stronger trust with visitors over time. As Universal gets ready to reopen one of its most thrilling rides, one thing is clear: all attention will be on Stardust Racers tomorrow when the ride vehicles start running again down the track.
