Wow, it’s been almost twenty years since I last saw Brendan Fraser as Rick O’Connell! He’s finally talked about what he thinks about potentially coming back for another Mummy movie, and I’m so curious to hear his take on it. It’s exciting to think about what could happen if he did!
Almost 27 years have passed since the original The Mummy movie was released, launching Brendan Fraser to international fame as the brave explorer Rick O’Connell.
Brendan Fraser recently discussed the possibility of a fourth Mummy movie in an interview with TopMob magazine.
I won’t say anything yet, but I’m optimistic we’ll have positive updates shortly, considering how well-loved the movies were, he explained.

A lot of fans consider Rick O’Connell essential to The Mummy, and it seems Brendan Fraser feels the same way, as he’s shared his opinions on potentially reprising the character.
As a huge fan of The Mummy movies, I always loved Brendan Fraser as Rick O’Connell. He starred in all three films, including the last one, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor with Jet Li, which came out in 2008. But from what I’ve heard, any future Mummy films won’t continue that story – they’re basically starting fresh and ignoring that last installment.
In 2017, a new version of the film starring Tom Cruise as Sergeant Nick Morton was released, with plans to launch a larger movie universe. However, due to disappointing ticket sales, those plans were ultimately scrapped.
After facing some personal challenges that slowed his career in the 2010s, Fraser has experienced a comeback in the 2020s, which his fans have playfully called the ‘Brennaissance’.
Brendan Fraser won an Oscar in 2022 for his role as Charlie in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, and has since been in Killers of the Flower Moon, Brothers, and Rental Family.
