Brian Austin Green Details His Co-Parenting Dynamic With Ex Megan Fox

Brian Austin Green is amazed how he and Megan Fox have transformed their relationship.

It’s been over four years since actor Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox divorced, and he’s now sharing details about how they’ve successfully co-parented their three children – Noah, 13, Bodhi, 11, and Journey, 9. He also credits his fiancée, Sharna Burgess, with providing valuable support during the process.

Brian recently shared on the Inside of You podcast that he and Megan are doing well, and that Megan and his fiancée, Sharna, get along great.

I’ve been following Brian Austin Green for years, and it’s great to hear how he’s making things work with Megan! He’s 52, and they’re doing a really good job co-parenting, even though they’re no longer together. He says they mostly just give each other space, which is smart. He also has a son, Kassius, who’s 23 with Vanessa Marcil, and a little one named Zane, who’s three, with Sharna. It’s nice to see them prioritizing their kids.

He explained that people usually have good reasons for growing apart, and he didn’t expect them to become close friends simply because they were now co-parenting.

Brian said he and Megan broke up because they weren’t as compatible as they used to be. He explained that he tried to stop expecting things to go back to how they were at the beginning of their relationship.

He said he gained valuable insights from his past relationship. He realized he often approached it with a need to be right and prove his intelligence, wanting his partner to recognize that.

Brian felt this set both him and Megan up for disappointment, creating expectations that were too high. They realized this wasn’t working, so they decided to try a different approach that suited them better.

He explained that they realized, when they separated, they couldn’t shield their children from the situation. He acknowledged it was unavoidable, but emphasized that they could control how it impacted them.

Brian and Megan have worked hard to maintain a close family feeling, particularly since Megan had her daughter, Saga Blade, with Machine Gun Kelly in March. Sharna mentioned that even Zane is a fan of the little one.

He told People magazine in June that the baby is his sister, and he’s very happy for her. He described her and her partner as deeply in love and called his sister ‘the absolute cutest thing,’ saying it’s wonderful to see.

Brian Austin Green spent a relaxing morning cuddling with his three sons, Noah (born in 2012), Bodhi (born in 2014), and Journey (born in 2016), all of whom he shares with his former partner, Megan Fox.

Following his split from Megan in 2020, actor Brian Austin Green began a relationship with Sharna Burgess, his dance partner on Dancing with the Stars. They had a son, Zane, in 2022 and got engaged in 2023.

Machine Gun Kelly, also known as Colson Baker, had a daughter named Casie with his former partner, Emma Cannon, back in 2009. More recently, in 2023, he became engaged to Megan Fox.

Megan, who is dedicated to raising her children with their father despite being separated, has been open about the challenges. In a 2022 interview with Glamour UK, she explained that it’s difficult balancing wanting to be with her kids constantly with feeling like she’s not measuring up as a parent. She acknowledged that only having them half the time is simply the reality of the situation.

Brian has a blended family that includes his adult son, Kassius, from his previous relationship with Vanessa Marcil. In December 2023, the actor took a holiday photo with his partner, Sharna, and all five of his children.

Honestly, watching Megan become a mom has been everything. She’s always been so driven, but she told Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2023 that her kids really keep her centered. She said when things get crazy, she just has to look at them and she instantly feels that deep connection – like she’s always been fully present. It’s the sweetest thing! She even sees herself reflected in them, in how they act and how they are, and it just proves what an amazing mom she is. It’s like, they are her legacy, and it’s beautiful to witness.

I was so excited to see a recent photo of Megan Fox with Machine Gun Kelly and his daughter! It was taken at his really cool coffee shop, 27 Club Coffee, in Ohio – a sweet and rare glimpse into their family life.

The popular musician now relies on his daughter’s feedback when making music. He told Kelly Clarkson in 2021 that he values her opinion above his own, explaining she knows what’s currently popular and can tell him if a song is a good fit.

Brian celebrated Mother’s Day 2024 by sharing a heartfelt message to Sharna on Instagram. He called her an amazing mother and fiancée, and expressed how much everyone loves her.

Megan intentionally keeps her children off social media, and she has a strong reason why. She explained to Glamour UK in 2022 that she wanted to protect them from online exposure from a young age. She feels they’ve been successful in maintaining their children’s innocence so far, but recognizes she can’t shield them indefinitely.

Brian says the key to successful co-parenting is choosing when to fight your battles. He explained to TopMob News in 2024 that separation will impact children, but parents can control how it impacts them. Trying to shield kids completely from the effects of a separation isn’t realistic; focusing on making the impact positive is what matters.

Megan avoids saying negative things about her children’s father when she’s with them. As she explained on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2023, she believes that speaking badly about him would be like rejecting a part of her own children, since he’s an important part of who they are.

I just saw the cutest photo of Brian’s kids enjoying a beautiful day at the beach in Malibu! He posted it on Instagram with the simple caption, ‘Great day!!’ – it totally made my day seeing them all having fun!

Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) has said his daughter played a key role in his journey to sobriety. He shared on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast that she noticed when he was using drugs, and that conversation was a turning point for him. MGK, who has been sober since August 2023, explained he wants to be a better father than his own, and breaking the cycle of addiction for his daughter is a major motivation.

Sharna has expressed her gratitude to Brian’s children for giving her a preview of motherhood. Speaking on the Quite Frankly podcast in 2023, she explained that being around them allowed her to practice parenting skills and gain confidence. She realized she had a natural ability with children and felt prepared to become a mom herself.

In 2020, Brian appeared as a contestant on the show The Masked Singer. He shared on Instagram that he was really looking forward to watching it with his kids, but unfortunately, they fell asleep after just 15 minutes.

Brian had a vasectomy about two months after their son, Zane, was born, but he could potentially reverse the procedure later. Sharna mentioned on the Oldish podcast in January that they would consider it if they had the room and resources, but they’re currently very busy raising their four young children.

On March 27, 2025, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) had a baby girl. The rocker even wrote an original song for her arrival, with help from friends like Travis Barker.

“She’s finally here,” MGK exclaimed in a post on Instagram, “our little celestial seed.”

In April 2025, Brian and Sharna shared a fun and delightful time with Zion, Noah, Bodhi, and Journey, enjoying both treats and good company.

Machine Gun Kelly recently spent some father-daughter time with his oldest child, Casie, not long after he and Megan Fox welcomed their new baby girl.
