Brian Cox is leaving no insult unsaid.
Okay, so I was reading all about Jeremy Strong, and honestly, he’s just so real! He was just spilling tea about everyone in Hollywood – it’s amazing! He actually talked about Margot Robbie’s take on Wuthering Heights, and I’m dying to know what he thought! But the best part? Apparently, Johnny Depp was the reason he didn’t end up in Pirates of the Caribbean! Can you believe it?! I’m completely obsessed with hearing all his honest opinions.
Brian Cox recently explained why he didn’t take the role of Governor Swann in the popular Disney movie—a part that eventually went to Jonathan Pryce, the on-screen father of Keira Knightley’s character. In an interview with The Times on April 3, Cox admitted he was actually relieved to avoid working with Johnny Depp, describing him as “overblown” and “overrated.”
The veteran filmmaker, now 79, shared his thoughts on the recent film adaptation of Wuthering Heights. While he wasn’t particularly critical of Margot Robbie‘s acting, he questioned whether she was the right choice to play the character of Cathy.
Cheryl Cox commented that Margot Robbie was simply too glamorous for the part she played. While she felt the actress lacked a certain edginess the role seemed to require, she admitted it wasn’t her place to criticize and acknowledged the film could still be excellent.
The Bravehart actor once again shared his opinions about Edward Norton and Quentin Tarantino, both of whom he wrote about in his 2022 memoir, Putting the Rabbit in the Hat. Cox described Norton as difficult to work with and called Tarantino superficial.
He also thought about Tarantino because he’d recently directed his own film, Glenrothan, which came out in 2025.
He said he wanted to acknowledge the actor’s work, but emphasized that a Quentin Tarantino film is entirely the director’s vision. He clarified that he doesn’t want to impose his own style on a Tarantino project.

Cox didn’t hold back when discussing Kevin Spacey, calling him “a stupid, stupid man.” He also mentioned that he wasn’t a fan of Ian McKellen’s acting, saying it wasn’t to his liking.
Brian Cox also discussed his disagreement with Daniel Day-Lewis, which began because Cox wasn’t a fan of Jeremy Strong’s intense acting style on Succession. Strong’s approach was partly influenced by Day-Lewis, who famously immerses himself in his roles. Despite being confused about being pulled into what Cox called a public argument, Day-Lewis extended an invitation to Cox to talk things over, as they had previously worked together on the film Boxer.
But Cox hasn’t responded to that offer because he believes the problems aren’t related to Daniel Day-Lewis at all.
According to a recent interview with The Times, a former co-star of Daniel Day-Lewis described him as someone who keeps to himself and doesn’t cause trouble on set. The actor, who also appeared in Troy, explained that he’s been asked by Jeremy—Day-Lewis—to stop discussing him publicly, but wanted to acknowledge that Jeremy is a very talented and wonderful actor.

Ultimately, he just feels some actors struggle to find the balance with method acting.
Cox went on to say it’s all the unnecessary complications that get in the way. He pointed out that children don’t overthink things like ‘what’s my motivation’ – they simply act!
The Emmy-winning actor doesn’t seem to mind speaking his mind, even though his wife, Nicole Ansari, has cautioned him against it. They are parents to two sons, Orson, 24, and Torin, 21.
She’s always on me, you know? My wife, she’s constantly saying, ‘Brian, please be careful!’ But honestly, I’m done with careful! I’m turning eighty this year, and I’ve decided that’s it. I’m just going to say whatever’s on my mind, no matter what. It’s my life, and I’m finally going to live it how I want!
For more stars who have made exceedingly candid confessions, keep reading.

In June 2024, athlete Jason Kelce jokingly tweeted, “What kind of weirdo washes their feet…” after a fan commented that he appeared to not wash his legs or feet.
The retired Philadelphia Eagles player later doubled down on his comments.
On his podcast, New Heights, Jason Kelce jokingly asked, “What kind of person washes someone else’s feet?” He then added that he would only scrub them if they were visibly dirty.

More than ten years after actor Kristen Stewart shared a story about witnessing a clown’s death in a car explosion at the circus when he was a child, he confessed that the story was made up.
Robert remembered telling The New York Times Style Magazine in December 2024 that he reacted with complete surprise, saying, ‘What on earth? Are you possessed?’
As for what he said during the 2011 Today interview promoting his film Water for Elephants?
He explained that one of the clowns had died in an accident. Their small car exploded, and it was a very serious incident. Everyone panicked and ran to safety; it was a truly frightening experience.

Grandma knows best.
I was really touched by something Kim Kardashian shared on The Kardashians. She talked about how her grandmother, MJ, unexpectedly played a part in a really sweet moment with Pete Davidson back in October 2022. It was so lovely to hear how much her grandma’s memory still means to her, even in her romantic life!
Kim Kardashian shared a story with MJ, Kris Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian about a weekend at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She said she and Pete Davidson were chatting by the fireplace for hours when she remembered something her grandmother told her: that having sex in front of a fireplace is a way to truly enjoy life. Inspired by this, they ended up having sex by the fireplace as a tribute to Kris.
Grandma’s reaction? A nod of approval.
Kim jokingly remarked, “It’s weird to imagine your grandma while being intimate, right?” MJ responded with a laugh, “I know it’s strange, but I wasn’t always this age!”

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have a very close family—including their children, 8-year-old Wyatt and 6-year-old Dimitri—and their love for each other is limitless.
So much so, that the Black Swan actress revealed they keep an open-door policy at home.
She told TopMob News in September 2022 that this also extends to the bathroom. She explained that her family has simply accepted all normal bodily functions as a natural part of life, and the kids have grown up with that understanding.
Mila explained she finally gave in after her family repeatedly asked to come inside. She said she just decided to leave the door open rather than continue refusing them.
Pre-kids, she might not have imagined she’d flush that particular boundary away.
She said she never imagined she’d be comfortable enough to use the restroom with the door open.

Jennifer Garner shared a funny story about a mishap on set. While filming the 2007 movie The Kingdom, she accidentally bit her own tongue during a fight scene!
Jennifer described a scene with Sala Baker where the director, Pete Berg, instructed her to realistically attempt to evade harm. She explained that they hadn’t rehearsed much, and Berg told her to use any means necessary to protect herself.
She continued, explaining that they both jumped into action, and she ended up climbing onto his back. She actually bit his ear – they even have a photo to prove it, showing a piece missing! They weren’t joking around at all.

Ghouls just want to have fun.
During an October 2022 episode of The View, while discussing a woman who claimed her home was haunted by “sexual ghosts,” Sara Haines posed a surprising question to her co-hosts: “Is it possible to get pregnant from a ghost?”
Oh my gosh, can you BELIEVE Joy Behar?! When someone asked about getting pregnant by a ghost, she just casually dropped that she’s been with a few ghosts and never had any babies! It was the most amazing, hilarious thing ever, and honestly, only Joy could pull that off. I’m still laughing about it!
“I’m going to leave that comment as is,” Whoopi Goldberg responded. “I’m not sure everyone heard what Joy said, but I’m choosing not to address it further.”

As a huge fan of Hoda and Jenna, I was cracking up hearing about this! Apparently, while getting ready for their show, Hoda found out Jenna always skips underwear! It’s just one of those funny little things that makes their on-screen chemistry so great – they really are comfortable around each other, and now we all know exactly how comfortable!
You won’t believe what happened backstage on Today with Hoda and Jenna! We were rushing to change outfits, and as we headed back to the dressing room, I realized something pretty surprising about Jenna – she actually doesn’t wear underwear! It was a funny moment, and we just had to share it.
Jenna’s rationale? Well, no underwear might just be more convenient to her.
She explained that the style creates a more flattering shape and also simplifies packing. She felt there were many benefits to choosing it.

Looks like someone hasn’t been keeping up.
Britney Spears related to a popular line from Keke Palmer – “He could be walking down the street and I wouldn’t know a thing” – and confessed she wasn’t familiar with Pete Davidson or Scott Disick.
Britney shared a funny video from March featuring Pete Davidson – who was dating Kim Kardashian at the time – and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, Scott Disick, having a night out. She said the video had her laughing a lot.
Britney explained she was resharing the video, adding that she didn’t know who was in it, but it had made her laugh a lot.

Before Chris Evans became famous as Captain America and was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, Jana Kramer dated him and thought he was a charming and attractive guy.
The singer shared on her podcast, Whine Down with Jana Kramer, that this happened over ten years ago. While she doesn’t remember exactly how many times they went out, she does clearly remember their final meeting.
Jana, who was around 26 at the time, said Chris asked her to come over when he had some friends visiting from Boston.
Jana recalled that the last thing she remembered was her partner going to the bathroom right after she’d eaten asparagus, which makes your urine smell different. They didn’t end up intimate that night; he stayed up late with friends, and the next morning she felt embarrassed leaving his house – what she jokingly called the ‘asparagus walk of shame’.
She added, “I never heard from him again.”

Not all of these confessions are amusing.
In December, television writer Elisabeth Finch confessed that she had fabricated a story about having a rare form of bone cancer. She had originally shared this false diagnosis with ELLE magazine eight years prior, and it even became the basis for a plotline on Grey’s Anatomy.
Elisabeth recently shared with The Ankler newsletter that a lie she told at age 34 was the biggest regret of her life. She explained that the lie grew over time and became a heavy burden. She also clarified that she has never been diagnosed with cancer.
Finch, who was temporarily removed from his role on the ABC medical show before ultimately quitting, admitted, “I made a mistake. It was unacceptable and completely wrong—there’s no excuse for it.”

Beauty is pain, but Kim Kardashian might be able to stomach it.
The reality star told The New York Times she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger, joking that she was open to trying everything.
She admitted in June that she’d even consider something extreme – like eating something disgusting daily – if it meant looking younger. She emphasized she was serious, saying, ‘I just might.’
In a July 2022 interview with Allure magazine, Kim explained she was mostly kidding when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.
You know, it’s funny, but I’ve really been thinking about how far people will go for beauty. Honestly? If someone convinced me that eating something truly awful every single day would make me look and feel younger, I’d probably give it a shot. It just shows how much we prioritize looking our best, doesn’t it?
She wasn’t sure how much she could eat. “Maybe just a bite,” she said, adding, “I don’t think I could manage a whole bowl.”

Jelly Roll could’ve used some saving from himself.
During an April 2025 interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer of “Save Me” shared a particularly embarrassing story, and he didn’t hesitate to tell all the details.
“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”
To be honest, Jelly Roll (whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord) didn’t intend to cause such serious harm.
He firmly believed it was just a misunderstanding. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience turn from supportive to completely against me.”
