Prepare for a few new faces in the ton.
With season four of Bridgerton focusing on the growing romance between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), the show’s author, Julia Quinn, has shared that future seasons might feature different actors. However, she doesn’t have complete control over casting decisions.
In an interview with Us Weekly published on February 7th, Julia said she wasn’t sure how the media would portray a certain situation, or what details they would choose to highlight or alter.
Julia responded to rumors about whether the actors playing Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) and Gregory (Will Tilston), the youngest Bridgerton siblings, would be replaced when their characters begin looking for spouses.
She chuckled, remembering how young they were when they began. “If you’d asked me about them back then, I wouldn’t have had an answer,” she said. “But seeing them at the movie premiere, both enjoying wine, was a surprise.”
She added, “They’re both 18 now and Will was there with his girlfriend.”
The series, based on the Regency Era novels and initially planned for eight seasons—one for each of the eight Bridgerton siblings—will first focus on developing the stories of Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), according to showrunner Jess Brownell, before moving on to Hyacinth and Gregory’s romances.
According to Jess, the show will focus on either Eloise and then Francesca, or Francesca and then Eloise in the next two seasons, which is a logical plan. Since filming each season takes a few years, the actors playing Hyacinth and Gregory will likely be in their twenties by the time those characters’ stories are told.
She thought things would likely be fine. She wondered if it would be strange that they’d known these people since they were kids, but figured it wasn’t unusual – they often see child actors all grown up.

The bestselling author understands why it might be difficult for readers to picture Florence and Will as older characters. She faced similar challenges when writing their stories, It’s In His Kiss and On the Way to the Wedding, trying to develop their characters’ adult lives.
She said it was challenging to write her first two books. They needed time to develop in her imagination, which was a difficult process for both stories. She was actually relieved it took several years, though she’s now lost track of exactly how long it took to write them.
She added, “I really had to let them grow up. It was tough.”
While you’re waiting for the second part of Bridgerton season four to arrive on Netflix February 26th, be sure to keep reading for exclusive behind-the-scenes details about the show.

While filming, Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton, and Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton, passed the time by playing a clapping game.

Eloise and Penelope Featherington, portrayed by Nicola Coughlan, seemed particularly close and cheerful while filming, suggesting a strong bond between the actresses.

While filming on a cold day, Hannah Dodd (who plays Francesca Bridgerton) had some fun making funny faces with Claudia.

Victor Alli, who plays John Stirling, recently shared a humorous story about filming season four of Bridgerton.

As a lifestyle expert on set, I always say preparation is key! And that was definitely true with our amazing cast – including the wonderful Yerin Ha as Sophie, Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gun, Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li, and Isabella Wei as Posy Li. We made sure everyone had an umbrella, even when the weather cooperated – because you just never know, and a little foresight goes a long way!

There were clearly no ruff moments behind the scenes.

The actors smiled for the cameras while staying warm on set, where they’re filming a love story between the characters Benedict and Sophie.
