Bridgerton boss reveals her pick to lead potential new spin-off series

Now that season four of Bridgerton has finished, viewers are curious about which character’s love story will be the central focus in the next season.

As a critic, I’m already thinking ahead to the next couple of seasons, and while we know who’s leading the charge, I can’t help but daydream about potential spin-offs. The success of ‘Queen Charlotte’ really opened the door for exploring other characters’ stories, and honestly, I’m hoping the creators will consider giving some of our favorites their own dedicated series. It’s something a lot of fans, including myself, are really eager to see!

Shonda Rhimes has shared her idea for a new spin-off series, and it seems she’s considering focusing on Violet Bridgerton (played by Ruth Gemmell). This would continue the world established by the original ‘Bridgerton’ show.

In a recent interview on Craig Melvin’s podcast, Glass Half Full, Shonda Rhimes mentioned that she believes Violet would be an ideal character to center a story around, suggesting it’s something she’s considered.

In a recent interview with TopMob, Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell expressed her desire for a spin-off series focusing on Lady Violet. She feels the events of the fourth season particularly set the stage for a continuation of her character’s story.

The show frequently hints at Eloise’s past and draws parallels between her and Benedict, leading viewers to expect a deeper look into her upbringing. However, whether that will actually happen depends on showrunner Shonda Rhimes, according to actress Hannah Brownell in an interview with TopMob.

I’ve definitely thought about a spin-off focusing on a younger Violet! I’d be a huge fan, and I’d watch it without a doubt. Ultimately, that decision is up to Shonda, and right now I’m completely focused on making the most of our current eight seasons.

I was totally invested in Violet and Lord Marcus’s storyline in season four! They were secretly engaged, which was so exciting. But then, right when it seemed like they were going to share their happy news, Violet did a complete 180. She suddenly emphasized how important it was for her to be independent, and it felt like she was pulling back from everything. It was a really surprising turn of events, honestly!

We expect to see a lot more of Violet Bridgerton in the next season, and many fans are hoping to learn about her life before the show’s timeline. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but we’re hopeful!
