*Warning: This article contains spoilers for Bridgerton season 4 part 2.*
Similar to past seasons of Bridgerton, viewers who have read the original Julia Quinn novels are eagerly anticipating how the fourth season will translate the story to the screen.
When books are turned into TV shows, fans often have specific scenes they’re excited to see brought to life accurately and with care.
Fans immediately noticed a steamy bathtub scene between Benedict and Sophie in the season 4 part 2 trailer, and it does indeed happen later in the season, just as they predicted.
The latest episodes delve into the consequences of Benedict confessing his feelings to Sophie, their mutual attraction, and how their bond deepens. All of this culminates in a passionate scene in the finale’s bathtub.
Thompson said there wasn’t any extra pressure to get the scene right for book fans. He explained that many scenes from the book were already included in the show this season, so it was just another scene they needed to film.
It’s amusing how much of what people notice is simply the set design. I specifically remember seeing Benedict’s bedroom in the cottage and thinking, ‘This is exactly what I imagined!’ While that’s great for the audience, we have to focus on moving forward with the work.
As a fan, it’s amazing to see everyone get hyped about specific moments, but honestly, as a creator, my focus has to be on what feels right for the characters in the story. It’s about staying true to their journey and letting their relationships develop naturally – that’s what really matters to me. I want to be honest to what they need, and let the love between them shine through.
We’re not trying to simply satisfy expectations; we aim to offer a unique and surprising experience, and entertain people in a fresh way.

Thompson added: “You have to take that thing and put it at bay a little bit.”
This scene happens right after Sophie has faced a lot of difficulties, and it echoes the show’s passionate beginnings. More importantly, it marks a significant shift in the relationship between Sophie and Benedict.
You know, I was just thinking about Sophie’s character, and it really struck me that this is the first time we see her truly being taken care of. For so long, she’s been the caretaker, always giving to others. It’s incredibly moving to watch her finally relax, let go, and just enjoy someone else’s company. It’s a really beautiful and poetic moment, honestly – a lovely change of pace for her.
