Be warned, this contains spoilers for the first part of Bridgerton season 4! The second part of Bridgerton season 4 is coming out at the end of February, and everyone is talking about Benedict’s surprising – and rather awkward – proposal to Sophie.
The fourth season of Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn’s novel, An Offer From A Gentleman. It follows Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) as he becomes captivated by a masked woman in silver at a ball. He soon discovers this mysterious woman is actually Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), who works as a maid.
Netflix has shared a preview of the final episodes of Bridgerton season 4, focusing on the developing romance between Benedict and Sophie. The clip shows a passionate moment between them, with Benedict declaring his feelings for Sophie. It appears Sophie is still working at the Bridgerton estate and can no longer hide her own growing attraction to him.
The first part of season 4 featured Sophie facing conflict with her stepmother, Araminta (played by Katie Leung), in a storyline reminiscent of Cinderella. She’s essentially abandoned by her family and has to navigate life on her own.
The initial episodes of the new season have sparked mixed reactions online after a passionate moment led Benedict to suggest an affair with Sophie, all while remaining unaware of her true identity. Overall, audience reception has been somewhat divided, with viewers on Rotten Tomatoes giving the first half of Bridgerton season 4 a 67% rating, compared to an 81% rating from critics.

While it’s still unconfirmed who will be the central focus of season 5, a new trailer suggests the story may center around Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd). She’s shown in mourning attire, hinting at the death of her husband, John, as depicted in the original novels. This setup would likely lead to her relationship with Michaela taking center stage. However, some fans believe Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) could be the season’s main romantic interest, as her love story hasn’t been explored yet.
You can now watch the first part of Bridgerton season 4 on Netflix, with the second part coming on February 26th.
