Bridgerton is adding more faces to the ballroom.
Following the recent announcement that season five of the popular Netflix series will focus on Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), the show has revealed three new actors joining the cast.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m SO excited! Tega Alexander, Jacqueline Boatswain, and Gemma Knight Jones are joining the cast! And it’s not just a quick cameo – they’re going to be recurring characters, which means they’re clearly going to be important. I can just feel it! I’m already obsessed with what their storylines will be!
I’m so excited about the casting for the new season! Tega, you might recognize him from roles in MobLand and The Sandman, is joining us as Christopher Anderson. And here’s a fun connection – he’s actually the son of Lord Marcus Anderson, played by Daniel Francis, who we first met back in season three. It’s great to see family connections woven into the storyline!
I’ve been absolutely captivated by Christopher! The press release described him as a real Regency heartthrob, someone who could easily charm anyone in the Bridgerton world. But what’s really intriguing is that beneath all that confidence and playful charm, he’s actually quite insecure. He’s Lord Anderson’s son, and you just know he’s destined to make a splash in society – whether he intends to or not! I can’t wait to see how his story unfolds.
Jacqueline, known for her roles in Carnival Row and The Diplomat, will play Helen Stirling, Michaela Stirling’s mother.
Helen is portrayed as the driving force behind Michaela’s personality. According to the show’s official description, she navigates London’s social scene with her daughter, offering a blend of enthusiastic support and firm discipline.
As for MobLand alum Gemma, she will be portraying Lady Elizabeth Ashworth.
Elizabeth is a long-time friend of Michaela’s, acting as both a trusted confidante and a guide to London. While she appears lighthearted and charming, Elizabeth is actually a practical and insightful person who understands how society truly works.

The fifth season of Bridgerton will center around Francesca’s developing love story with Michaela, who is related to her late husband, John Stirling (played by Victor Alli). This season is inspired by Julia Quinn’s sixth Bridgerton book, When He Was Wicked.
In March, showrunner Jess Brownell discussed the epic love story, telling Netflix’s Tudum that season five would heavily focus on longing and desire.
Jess said it feels like a major step forward. While many shows have portrayed LGBTQ+ romance, she emphasized that dedicating a whole season of Bridgerton to a love story between women is particularly significant.

Intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot hinted that the fifth season of the show will be very exciting and emotionally charged.
On March 26th, Lizzy shared a photo of Hannah and Masali on her Instagram Story with a playful caption: “A moment of silence for the husbands who might be left behind after everyone sees season 5.”
Though the fifth season of Bridgerton isn’t out yet, let’s revisit some of the best behind-the-scenes moments from filming season four.

While filming, Luke Thompson (who plays Benedict Bridgerton) and Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton) passed the time by playing a clapping game.

Eloise and Penelope Featherington, portrayed by Nicola Coughlan, seemed very friendly and happy together while filming, suggesting a close bond between the actresses.

While filming on a cold day, Hannah Dodd (who plays Francesca Bridgerton) had some fun making funny faces with Claudia.

Victor Alli, who plays John Stirling, recently shared a humorous story about what happened while filming season four of Bridgerton.

Even when it rained during filming, the actors—including newcomers Yerin Ha (playing Sophie), Katie Leung (as Lady Araminta Gun), Michelle Mao (as Rosamund Li), and Isabella Wei (as Posy Li)—were prepared with umbrellas.

There were clearly no ruff moments behind the scenes.

The actors smiled for the cameras while staying warm on set, where they’re filming a love story between the characters Benedict and Sophie.
