Season 5 of Bridgerton will introduce new characters to London’s high society, including a charming rogue who will compete for attention now that Benedict has settled down.
Season 5 of Bridgerton is adding three new faces to the cast: Tega Alexander will play Lord Anderson’s son, Christopher, Jacqueline Boatswain will play Michaela’s mother, Helen Stirling, and Gemma Knight Jones will portray Michaela’s friend, Lady Elizabeth Ashworth.
Christopher Anderson, a new character in the Netflix series, is being portrayed as a charming and scandalous figure reminiscent of a Regency-era Casanova. He’s expected to be a prominent bachelor in London society, similar to Anthony and Benedict before they found wives. However, despite his outward confidence, Christopher is also said to struggle with hidden insecurities. This character and his family were created specifically for the show and don’t appear in the original Bridgerton novels by Julia Quinn.
Season 5 of Bridgerton will center on the romance between Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), and will introduce several new characters connected to Michaela’s life. A key addition will be Michaela’s mother, Helen, described as the inspiration behind her daughter’s strong personality. Helen will offer guidance to Michaela as she navigates the social season, along with Michaela’s longtime friend, Lady Elizabeth Ashworth.
Tega Alexander’s previous work includes appearances in the crime thriller MobLand on Paramount+ and the Hulu detective series Red Eye, before joining the cast of Bridgerton. Jacqueline Boatswain has also been in Red Eye on Hulu, as well as Carnival Row, After the Flood, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Gemma Knight Jones starred in season one of MobLand and has also had roles in Andor and Professor T.
