Just in time for the holidays, Netflix has dropped the full trailer for Bridgerton season 4, hinting at a fairytale with a surprising new angle. While the trailer shows glimpses of other storylines, the season will mainly follow Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his pursuit of a captivating woman he met at a masked ball. What Benedict doesn’t realize is that this woman, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), is the illegitimate daughter of an Earl, meaning she doesn’t share the same social standing as him. This secret could cause a scandal – exactly the kind Lady Whistledown and her readers love – and potentially ruin Benedict’s reputation.

Julia Quinn, the author of the Bridgerton novels, heavily based her third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, on the story of Cinderella. It looks like the fourth season of the Bridgerton TV show will follow the book closely, featuring a similar ‘rags to riches’ plotline for the character Sophie.
This version of the story changes some details to fit Cinderella’s tale into the world of Bridgerton – for example, a glove is lost instead of a glass slipper. However, these familiar elements should be a welcome and enjoyable twist for fans of the show.
