Britney Spears has reportedly sold her music rights, including her song catalog, to Primary Wave Music, several news sources confirm.
Although the exact amount wasn’t revealed, court documents obtained by TMZ confirm Britney Spears transferred ownership of her music catalog in December.
Over the past few years, companies like Primary Wave have been buying the rights to music catalogs from major artists, including Stevie Nicks, Prince, Whitney Houston, and The Notorious B.I.G. Other popular musicians, such as Justin Bieber, Bruce Springsteen, and Shakira, have also sold the ownership of their songs. A well-known example is Taylor Swift, whose master recordings were initially sold by her previous record label, Big Machine Records, in 2019, but she later bought them back from Shamrock Capital in 2025.
Although it’s been a while since Britney’s last album release in 2016, she’s been focusing on her relationship with her sons, Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
Last month, the 44-year-old shared that she plans to give her grand piano to one of her sons, hoping they will perform together soon – she envisions herself playing with him, wearing her hair in a bun and with a red rose.
Britney Spears expressed her excitement and admiration for a prominent figure in an Instagram post on January 8th, writing, “He’s a huge star and I’m so humbled to be in his presence!!!” She concluded with a heartfelt, “God speed, little man!!!”
