Serafini Productions is releasing a new installment in its first-person horror series, BrokenLore. Called BrokenLore: Ascend, the game will continue the studio’s tradition of exploring challenging themes through psychological horror. A trailer for the game has been released and is available to watch below.
In BrokenLore: Ascend, players follow Ren and Yui, two rooftop climbers who attempt to scale the infamous Tokyo Tower. Their climb leads to an encounter with the Rokurokubi, a mythical creature known for its incredibly long neck. The game’s story centers around the pair creating a video for their SKYLIMIT channel, and how that fuels their ambition to tackle increasingly risky climbs.
Okay, so this Rokurokubi yokai isn’t just some monster; it really gets into what scares the main characters the most – basically, the fear of being forgotten and becoming totally insignificant. And with BrokenLore: Ascend being played from a first-person perspective, they’re adding a lot more climbing mechanics, which I’m guessing will be tied to the types of creepy challenges and horrors we’ll be facing in the game. It sounds like they’re really building on the psychological horror aspect!
Currently, a release date for BrokenLore: Ascend hasn’t been announced. However, the game is confirmed to be in development for both PC and PlayStation 5.
