
The creator of the hit show Brooklyn Nine-Nine has cast a well-known actor as the lead in their new detective comedy.
In January, it was revealed that Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici, the team behind Brooklyn Nine-Nine, were creating a new pilot for NBC. The show will star Jake Johnson, best known for playing Nick Miller on New Girl, as a character named Mickey. Mickey is a former Los Angeles police officer who’s struggling to rebuild his life after everything fell apart three years ago. He’s described as intelligent, pessimistic, and deeply saddened.
Okay, so I just got the scoop on the casting for this new NBC pilot, and it’s fantastic! Keith David – yes, the three-time Emmy winner – is going to play Garner Taggert. He’s the head of the Taggart PI Agency, and basically the boss of our leads, Mitch and Mickey. From what I’m hearing, Taggert is a real old-school, no-nonsense type – a tough guy who sees the world a little differently than most these days. I’m already intrigued!
