TopMob News has learned that the model will be appearing in the upcoming Baywatch reboot on FOX, and will be wearing the iconic red swimsuit. The show is expected to premiere later this year.

Riley Brooks plays Selene, the witty and outspoken captain of the lifeguards at Zuma Beach. Though she’s very good at her job, Selene often clashes with Captain Hobie Buchannon (Stephen Amell) because they disagree on how to best rescue people, creating ongoing tension. The conflict intensifies when Hobie’s daughter, Charlie (Jessica Belkin), joins the team, revealing that their rivalry is more personal than professional.

On March 9th, Brooks announced the news on her Instagram Stories, sharing a picture of herself with a script and hinting, “I’ve been keeping a little secret….”

The 29-year-old shared her 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover again, a photo where she wore a red swimsuit similar to the iconic Baywatch look. She playfully wrote that she’d been hoping for this opportunity for a long time.

Baywatch is currently Brooke Burns’ most significant acting role. She previously appeared in the 2018 film Backtrace and will make a brief appearance in the upcoming movie The Fifth Wheel, directed by Eva Longoria.

As the star of Love Thy Nader has said before, she always intended to become an actress, ever since she was a child growing up in Louisiana.

She explained to Bustle that she searched online for acting coaches in Baton Rouge and found someone who’d worked with an actor from The Vampire Diaries. This coach boldly claimed to ‘create stars.’ When the coach asked about her goals, she responded that she wanted to star in her own show, which the coach met with laughter.

Even though some people reacted negatively, Brooks didn’t give up on her dream. She left Tulane University in 2017 and moved to New York City to become a model.

As she recalled, “My dad said, ‘See you in Baton Rouge in a month when you run out of money.’”

Brooks’ modeling career took off after she won Sports Illustrated‘s 2019 Swim Search, appearing in the magazine before becoming a cover model in 2023.

Now that Baywatch is on her resume, there is another role she’d like to one day take on. 

She told Maxim magazine last year that she’d like to play a character based on her own life in a movie – a fun-loving Southern woman navigating life in New York City. She compared it to Eva Longoria’s role in Desperate Housewives, where Longoria felt she could essentially be herself without much acting required.
