Good news for Brookside lovers! You’ll be able to keep watching the classic Liverpool soap on STV Player for another three years.
The beloved Channel 4 series, which ran from 1982 to 2003, has been available on a Scottish streaming service since 2023. Fans who have long wished for a return of the show are thrilled to be able to watch five classic episodes.
The streamer’s broadcasts from the cul-de-sac have been incredibly popular, reaching 1 million viewers in just one month and growing to over 33 million views in the past two years.
Following a special episode that brought back popular characters from the show Hollyoaks to mark its 30th anniversary, STV has renewed its agreement with All3Media to keep bringing viewers the series.

The renewed agreement means viewers can revisit some of the show’s most memorable moments. This includes groundbreaking scenes like the first same-sex kiss on UK television before the 9 pm watershed, between Beth Jordache and Margaret Clemence, and the dramatic burial of Trevor Jordache beneath the patio of number 10.
The show also features the Dixon family, with Alex Fletcher returning as Jacqui and Claire Sweeney (from Coronation Street) joining the cast as Lindsey Corkhill.

Richard Williams, who leads audience and technology at STV, said continuing the partnership was an obvious and easy decision.
The incredible popularity of Brookside since its return shows how important it is to British television and how much it continues to resonate with viewers. We’re delighted STV Player is where people can continue to enjoy it for years to come.
Gary Woolf from All3Media International noted that viewers across the UK are enjoying the weekly availability of the soap on STV Player, and social media is consistently active with discussion following each Wednesday’s new episodes.
We’re really excited to keep building on this great storyline, especially because the show is entering a particularly strong and successful period.
John Whittle, head of the company that originally made Brookside, said they’re happy fans will be able to watch classic episodes for a long time to come.
The recent popular crossover with Brookside proves people want to see these classic characters and storylines return to television.
