Emma Heming Willis is sharing a glimpse into her reality.
In my role as a lifestyle advocate, I’d like to share some insights about Bruce Willis’ ongoing health journey, which involves a condition called Frontotemporal Dementia, often referred to as FTD. Recently, he and his family have shared updates about his progress.
Emma mentioned to Diane Sawyer during ABC’s August 26 special, titled “Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey,” that Bruce remains quite active. She emphasized that he is generally very healthy, but it’s his brain that is not functioning optimally.
In my pursuit, I shared that our language continues to evolve. We’ve found a unique method to connect with him, a distinct approach that sets us apart.
Emma, who has two daughters Mabel Willis (age 13) and Evelyn Willis (age 11) with the Die Hard actor, pointed out that even though he may not always recognize her, he is aware when he is among his loved ones.
As I stand in his presence, my heart ignites like never before. His touch sends shivers through me, each moment we share is filled with tender kisses and warm embraces. It’s as if he can sense my adoration, mirroring it back with an equally fervent passion. He seems just as captivated by our bond, making every second together feel magical.
She concluded by saying, “That’s all I require,” she emphasized. “I don’t feel the necessity for him to be aware that I am his wife, our marriage took place on this day. I don’t need any of those details. All I want is to experience a bond with him, and I already do.
Despite the ongoing deterioration, Emma, who tied the knot with the actor from Pulp Fiction in 2009, shared that occasionally, she catches a glimpse of the former Bruce.
On one particular day, Mabel and I assisted Bruce in changing his shirt, as the 47-year-old reminisced. Noticing her father’s stomach, Mabel remarked, “Oh, daddy, you’re getting a bit chubby. You have a big belly,” to which Bruce responded, “Are you saying I’m overweight?
Mabel and I were taken aback, exclaiming something like ‘Wow!’ because it had been quite some time since we heard him string words together coherently,” she went on. “But when he laughs, a genuine, hearty laugh it is, you can’t help but notice the sparkle in his eye or the hint of a smirk. It takes me to another place.

Despite cherishing the times spent with Bruce, who is a father figure to Rumer Willis (age 36), Scout Willis (age 33), and Tallulah Willis (age 31) – daughters of his ex-wife Demi Moore – it can be difficult to accept that bond gradually diminishing.
She clarified, “Those instances seem to pass by so swiftly, and before you know it, they’re gone. It can be challenging, but I’m deeply thankful that my spouse remains very much a part of my life.
As Bruce’s caregiver, Emma adopts a strategy to deal with her responsibilities by focusing on looking ahead. This caring individual, who has become an advocate for those in similar situations, finds solace in anticipating the future.
She confessed that due to being fully immersed in the present moment and her current circumstances, it’s challenging for her to recall past enjoyable events or visualize how things looked back then, as she is so engrossed in experiencing today alongside him.
She admitted that recalling who he was proves challenging for her, and instead, she finds comfort in focusing on the present. Reflecting on the past can be difficult.
