Bryan Braman, Super Bowl Champion, Dead at 38 After Cancer Battle

The football community is mourning a tremendous loss.

Bryan Braman, who played linebacker for both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans in the past, passed away on July 16 following a prolonged struggle with brain cancer. This sad news has been verified by his long-term agent, Sean Stellato. He was 38 years old.

He told NBC affiliate KPRC 2 on July 17th that it felt as though he had lost a beloved child. He would often pray over Bryan’s jersey. Many people admired Bryan for his immense physical stature, but what truly set him apart was his heart and spirit. His warmth and authenticity touched everyone he met, making him truly unique.

Stellato mentioned that Braman, leaving behind his two daughters aged 11 and 8, “breathed his final moments with loved ones present” following a prolonged battle against a seldom-encountered, aggressive, and returning type of cancer.

He spoke about the man’s incredible path to the NFL, despite not being drafted initially,” he added. “Not just reaching that level, but excelling and winning championships – it was a tough road for him. Life is like a race we all run. Today, football and his family are deeply affected by his passing at 38 years old. He embodied the spirit of football and the underdog.

A well-known NFL player, who spent seven seasons with both the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, enrolled in a 12-week health treatment plan back in February. Due to his medical needs, he currently requires full-time care, as mentioned on a GoFundMe page set up to support his medical expenses.

Braman received CAR T-cell treatment, a process that modifies a person’s T cells to hunt and eliminate cancer cells. Afterward, he went back home to recuperate, but unfortunately, his treatment faced obstacles when the tumor started expanding once more.

The recent update from June 20 states that Bryan is now receiving chemotherapy, a part of his specific treatment plan. Previously, he had undergone multiple surgeries.

The core issue is that Bryan hasn’t fully recuperated from the medical interventions due to a weakened immune system resulting from the treatments. Unfortunately, by the time he was ready to resume chemotherapy, the cancer had been growing at an alarming rate, now encroaching upon his essential organs.

Yet, the message underscored that Braman remained resolute in his struggle, stating, “He’s exploring other therapeutic trial options and is firm in his decision not to yield.

After winning the Super Bowl with his Eagles teammates in 2018, there was a flood of affection shown towards the athlete upon his passing.

This morning, I hadn’t planned to shed tears,” Emmanuel Acho penned on X. “However, upon reading the news about my teammate Bryan Braman, my heart was filled with love for him. He lived a challenging life yet never uttered a complaint. In life, he was a champion, and in death, he was a warrior.

J.J. Watt, a teammate of Braman’s on the Texans, likewise conveyed his sorrow, penning on X, “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. He was taken from us much too early.
