A recent report has revealed some new information about what roles Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier and Sentry will play in the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios is finishing up work on Avengers: Doomsday, the next big team-up movie directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. It’s expected to hit U.S. theaters in just over a year, and another sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is planned for 2027.
What is the update on Bucky Barnes and Sentry’s roles in Avengers: Doomsday?
Marvel is keeping the plot of Avengers: Doomsday secret, but Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus has revealed some details about what Sebastian Stan and Lewis Pullman’s characters will be doing in the movie.
According to Perez, Bob Reynolds, played by Pullman, mostly tries to stay calm and collected during the film. However, when Florence Pugh’s character, Yelena Belova, finds herself in a dangerous predicament, he’s compelled to unleash Sentry.
According to producer Kevin Feige, Sebastian Stan’s character, Bucky Barnes, will play a key role in bridging the gap between the Avengers and the Thunderbolts team.
Right now, these are just unconfirmed reports. Marvel fans will need to wait until December 2026 to see what the studio actually plans for Sentry and Bucky.
The upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and a large ensemble cast, is scheduled to premiere on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Secret Wars is currently slated for release on December 17, 2027.
