Bungie announced that Marathon, the multiplayer shooter that has faced development challenges, is now scheduled to be released in March 2026.
The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC for $39.99, €39.99, or £34.99. The developer promises players will also receive free updates throughout the year.
Bungie also wants to ensure players don’t feel pressured to constantly play to avoid missing out on special, limited-time events, as they move towards a continuously updated game experience.
Marathon Rewards Passes will no longer expire, and you’ll be able to buy and use Passes that were previously available.
Good news for the studio behind Marathon – recent playtests have received much more positive feedback from players. The game’s overall reception has improved significantly in recent weeks, and it has successfully moved past earlier claims of copied content.
What are your predictions for Marathon’s performance when it launches in March 2026? Do you think Sony and Bungie have a successful game on their hands, or will it face significant challenges? Let’s try to look at this objectively, beyond just online opinions.
