Bunnie Xo is going under the knife.
The author of Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic recently revealed she’s getting a facelift on March 15th, openly sharing details about this new step in her personal journey.
During the March 13th episode of her podcast, Dumb Blonde, Alisa DeFord, known as Bunnie, asked listeners to send her positive thoughts. She explained she was about to undergo a procedure that would likely leave her bruised and looking unusual, and asked people not to worry when they saw the results.
Although the 46-year-old, who has been married to Jelly Roll since 2016, worried about how her fans would react to the medical procedure, she felt calm and unfazed during the surgery itself.
“My doctor is really f–king good,” she assured. “So, everything’s going to go great.”
Bunnie has always been open about her cosmetic procedures, having previously discussed getting breast augmentation, a nose job (rhinoplasty), and fillers. She’s also shared that a gluteal fat grafting procedure was the most painful cosmetic treatment she’s ever had.
Bunnie isn’t shy about sharing her experiences with plastic surgery. In fact, her recently released memoir is completely honest and reveals a lot about her life, including her relationship with Jelly (whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord), as she told TopMob News.
Even after nearly ten years of marriage, Bunnie’s husband discovered new things about her while reading her story.
Bunnie explained to TopMob that the person had finally put everything together, using clues she’d given him along the way. He was surprised by the realization, saying something like, ‘Wow, I didn’t know it was that serious.’

I’ve been following Bunnie and her partner for a while now, and I really admire how open they are about their lives. She’s a mom to two wonderful kids – Bailee, who’s 16, and Noah, who’s 9 – from previous relationships, and she’s shared that being so honest about their blended family has actually made their relationship even stronger. It’s so refreshing to see!
Bunnie shared that throughout the trip, her father expressed more pride in her and her team than she could remember him ever doing before. She explained that he’s always known she strives for perfection, and she often wonders if he worries about whether she’ll do things correctly and represent herself well. She felt like he finally saw that they could come together and succeed when it mattered most.

Bunnie Xo was dating someone else in August 2015 when she first met Jelly Roll. He was performing as an opening act for the Moonshine Bandits at a Las Vegas country bar.
He completely broke down her emotional barriers. As she later wrote in her memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, she admitted, “I was—dare I say—mesmerized?”
She admitted he wasn’t the kind of person she usually went for, but the moment they shook hands, she felt an incredible connection. It was like a jolt of recognition, as if she’d known him forever and had been searching for him her whole life.
She doesn’t remember specifics of his performance, but she took lots of videos of him. She wanted to carefully observe his mannerisms and speech. She admitted she’d never been attracted to a Southern accent before, but that night was different. She clearly recalls thinking he had a bright future and would become famous.

Bunnie and Jelly Roll had been connecting for months through texts and online chats. She often pictured his smile, and she was excited when he told her he was filming a video in Las Vegas.
I usually go for strong, edgy guys—think tough guys, or those with a goth or emo look—but J wasn’t really my style, and I didn’t think I was his either. So I was completely baffled when, the moment we met, I felt this instant connection—like he was someone special. I just couldn’t understand it.
After a night out at a lively country bar, she said the connection between them was incredible, and they were instantly attracted to each other.
Bunnie recounted returning to her Las Vegas penthouse, where she initiated intimacy with a man by removing her clothes and beginning to undress him, but he didn’t reciprocate. She stated, ‘He absolutely refused to have sex with me.’
He then asked about her plans for the next five years. “I was annoyed but also curious, so I moved closer and lay down beside him, putting my arm around him,” Bunnie explained. “That’s when I began sharing all my hopes and dreams.”
She shared her dreams of hosting a talk show and starting a family, while he talked about his music career and his intention to gain custody of his teenage daughter, Bailee.
Bunnie wrote that they spent hours talking and imagining their future together. She described it as a completely open and honest conversation, unlike any she’d had before.

Bunnie observed that J was unlike anyone she’d known before, but she still felt a connection to him. She admitted he fit her usual type – a tattooed man with a criminal past and history of drug dealing. However, she also saw that he was actively trying to change his life and move in a positive direction, much like herself.
She wanted to be upfront about her past. When they first met, he asked about her job, and she told him the truth. As she explained, ‘I told him I was a sex worker, and that I earned a good income. There are different tiers within this profession, and I would say I cater to a more exclusive clientele.’
And Jelly certainly did.
She explained that he wasn’t bothered at all. He told her, ‘I admire your drive and I have no issue with how you’ve made a living.’ She added that from the very beginning, he never judged her for the things she did to get by.
When she started traveling with him, she updated her website to list the cities they would be visiting, helping her book clients. As Bunnie explained, she was completely booked with appointments before their plane even landed.
Jelly explained that it was the first time she’d been in a relationship where both she and her partner accepted each other completely, without either one trying to change the other.

The couple’s spontaneous August 2016 wedding in Las Vegas had lasting consequences. Bunnie confessed she was terrified when Jelly proposed to her backstage at a show, despite recognizing their relationship was unique. She questioned whether she was ready for such a significant commitment.
She admitted, “I thrive on doing things without planning ahead.” It was incredibly exciting, full of intense feelings, and she really enjoyed it. Would it likely fall apart? Definitely—but at least they’d have a good story to tell.”
They celebrated all the way to the courthouse, playing Jagged Edge‘s “Let’s Get Married” and Bruno Mars‘ “Gorilla.” As Bunnie put it, “We were just incredibly happy—and a little bit giddy!”
She described herself as being heavily under the influence of cocaine on her wedding day, and woke up the next morning, still upset and questioning their decision to get married, while wearing a torn black dress.
Their first major argument happened soon after, and it led to a serious talk with a stunning view of the Grand Canyon. Jelly Roll made it clear he only would have married her if he truly meant it.
Bunnie explained that J instantly eased all her anxieties with just one sentence. She’d always felt life was fairly easygoing—relationships could end without major consequences, and no one expected lasting commitment from her. But J was different; he envisioned a future with her, a long-term connection.
Seven years later they returned to that Vegas chapel to renew their vows.

She’s always been attracted to guys with a bit of an edge. Bunnie admitted, “J was a womanizer before he met me. He dated several women simultaneously for years.”
That includes the mother of his son Noah, born a week before his dad’s Vegas vows.
Bunnie explained that Jelly Roll and his previous partner had a complicated relationship lasting around ten years. Although it was unhealthy, they tried to raise their son together amicably. She also mentioned she and Jelly Roll began dating while she was already eight or nine months pregnant.
Bunnie admits her relationship with her husband’s former partner started off rocky, but now she genuinely loves her. She’s grateful to have someone who understands their child as well as she does, and appreciates the wonderful person and mother she has become.

When Bunnie first met Bailee, who was only seven years old at the time, Bailee may have actually prevented Bunnie from making a big mistake.
Bunnie explained that after a few months of marriage, she and Jelly Roll were on the verge of gaining full custody of Bailee from her biological mother, who was struggling with drug addiction.
Bunnie began each day by taking a mix of medications – half a Lortab, a quarter of a Xanax, and a diet pill – which made her realize she needed to make some changes in her life.
She explained that she didn’t want to make things any harder for the child, who had already been through so much. She believed getting sober would prevent her from causing further trauma.
Knowing I needed to be fully present for my daughter, Bailee, I made a really tough decision: I quit all drugs – pills and cocaine – immediately. It wasn’t easy, of course, and while I stopped using those right away, I knew letting go of alcohol would take more time. It was a process, but a necessary one for my family and for myself.

Even though Bunnie decided to travel with Jelly Roll all the way to his home in Tennessee, it was hard for her to leave Las Vegas.
Bunnie admitted she was feeling homesick and overwhelmed by the demands of being a full-time mother, especially because of her difficult relationship with her own stepmother. She found herself longing for her previous life in Las Vegas. Everything had changed so quickly—within months, she went from having no responsibilities to being completely consumed by them, and her days felt monotonous. This sudden shift was putting a strain on her marriage, and she could see problems developing.
Bunnie described girls from her past who, after she arrived in town, actively tried to make her life difficult.
Honestly, things had been so tense with Jelly Roll, we were fighting constantly. Then, a few days after Bailee had her tonsils done, I just…snapped. I packed my bags and left. Looking back, it’s so clear to me now – family is everything, and I would never, ever leave them again. But in that moment? I was just terrified. I can try to justify it with a million reasons, but the truth is, I was completely and utterly scared. It was pure, raw fear that made me run.

Bunnie quickly realized she’d made a mistake and soon found a large five-bedroom house in Las Vegas for everyone to live in together. She explained it was her way of making things right with Bailee and her partner, showing them she was committed for the long haul. She wanted to prove her dedication through actions, not just promises.
However, Jelly Roll quickly changed his mind. “Out of nowhere, he decided to cancel everything,” Bunnie explained, adding that she was completely surprised.
Five months after moving to Las Vegas, Jelly Roll told Bunnie they were going back to Nashville. Bunnie later revealed the real reason he didn’t share at the time: he was secretly in contact with a former girlfriend he’d dated briefly before they got together. While she had suspected something was wrong, she couldn’t confirm it. She also understood he was still hurting from past wounds and that both of them needed to learn how to truly love.
Even though she suspected he wasn’t entirely sincere in inviting her to Tennessee, she accepted, saying she would never leave their family again.

Bunnie explained that she believed allowing other women into their sexual encounters would prevent future infidelity, based on past experiences. However, she clarified that they didn’t have an open relationship; rather, they were generally open to bringing women home with them, and rarely refused.
Bunnie wrote that if she ever wanted to be with someone else, her partner, “J,” had previously said she was free to do so. Initially, this made her feel insecure, as she wondered if a lack of jealousy meant he didn’t love her. However, she later came to understand his perspective.
She explained that they both believe they shouldn’t control each other, and they see their relationship as committed, but not one where they have complete freedom to do as they please.

Bunnie made it clear that while she valued independence, honesty was paramount. She insisted, ‘Just don’t lie to me, and always be upfront with me about everything.’
She strongly suspected something was happening between Jelly Roll and a woman he used to be with. “For a whole year, this woman harassed me online,” she explained. “She’d share lyrics from his songs, show off his merchandise in photos, and make subtle, hurtful comments in her posts, knowing I suspected her. I just couldn’t find any proof.”
Bunnie explained that when she confronted Jelly Roll with these issues, he would manipulate her into questioning her own sanity and believing she was wrong to doubt him.
Couples’ therapy didn’t help, and things continued to deteriorate for ten months, according to Bunnie. Eventually, the situation reached a breaking point and completely fell apart.
She came home from a trip to find her husband had already left their house in Nashville. A conversation with his best friend’s wife then confirmed what she had feared: he wasn’t coming back.
Bunnie shared that she had thought about ending her life that night. She explained the pain she was feeling was overwhelming and she simply wanted it to stop.
Instead, she drove back to Las Vegas and found out on Instagram that Jelly Roll had already announced their breakup, even though he’d said he would wait a few months before doing so.
Bunnie explained that after everything that had happened – the disagreements, the pain, and all the drama – she’d finally reached her limit with J. She decided she was done talking to him for good.

They were completely committed to each other, through thick and thin, as Bunnie put it. She recalled him telling her a story – “about a drug dealer’s daughter he met at a bar” – and admitted, “And I believed him.”
Until a random number began blowing up his phone.
It suddenly occurred to me,” Bunnie said. “It was him – her old flame was still involved, even though he’d insisted they’d broken up completely.”
Her trust in Jelly Roll demolished, she reached out to his affair partner for the full story.
Bunnie explained that she found out he bought a house for them both and expected her to stay home and care for his daughter, Bailee. She said what bothered her most wasn’t a physical affair, but the emotional betrayal and the idea of him wanting another woman to be a mother figure to the child she loved.
Bunnie explained that even though she eventually forgave Jelly Roll, the experience changed how she loved him. “You don’t stop loving someone who hurts you,” she said, “but your heart becomes more cautious and less trusting—it’s damaged.”
Bunnie was honest about things not being okay after the conflict. She admitted that arguments became heated, and even confessed to hitting Jelly Roll after he expressed no remorse for his actions.
She wrote that it would take a long time to get over the affair and even longer to truly believe her partner loved her and didn’t see her as easily replaced.

Now nearly seven years into the pair’s fertility journey, the pieces are starting to come together.
I faced some tough news when doctors discovered my Fallopian tubes were blocked, meaning getting pregnant naturally wouldn’t be possible, and even surgery wasn’t a guarantee. But honestly, I’m so optimistic! IVF has come so far, and we were incredibly lucky to find a truly selfless woman willing to be a surrogate and help us welcome twins. It’s amazing to think our dream of becoming parents is finally within reach.
Their plan is to use her eggs and his sperm and try for twins.
Bunnie responded to criticism about having children at her age with a defiant, ‘I don’t care.’ She explained they plan to raise their children with the love and support they themselves never experienced, and expressed excitement about watching their children grow up and carry a part of both of them into the world.
