With summer ending and fall beginning, it’s time for the latest Call of Duty game! This year’s edition, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, continues the story from last year’s Black Ops 6. The beta test for the game has just started, ahead of its full release on November 13th.
The Black Ops 7 beta is now available for players who preordered the game or received a code from Call of Duty: NEXT. Everyone else can try it out starting October 5th. The beta will be available on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation and runs until October 8th, giving players a sneak peek before the full game launches.
Beyond giving players a first look, this test helps developers at Treyarch and Raven Software check how well the game’s servers and systems handle a lot of players. This lets them find and fix important problems before the official release. In fact, they’ve already found a significant bug right away!
Players are reporting a bug that’s stopping them from accessing the Black Ops 7 beta, even if they have a valid access code. The game displays a message saying they don’t have access, which usually appears for those trying to play without a code. Many people who *did* properly redeem a code are still running into this issue.
Neither Treyarch nor Raven Software has officially commented on the issue through any Call of Duty channels, but I’ll update this article with any new information. However, they have confirmed a problem with Battle.net players starting the game, and are currently working to fix it.
Fortunately, there are a few temporary solutions you can try now to fix the issue until it’s permanently resolved, or until the servers become stable again if the problem is caused by network connectivity.
The easiest and most effective way to fix this error seems to be joining a friend’s game lobby. Many players have found that this consistently lets them get into the game, but it does require having a friend who is already playing and has their lobby open for joining.
Okay, so if joining with a friend doesn’t fix things, I’ve seen a lot of people recommend completely restarting the Black Ops 7 beta. That means closing the whole program down and then launching it again. Apparently, it’s helped some folks get in, though you might need to try it a couple of times before it works.
If these solutions don’t work, unfortunately, there’s not much else to do but wait for an update to fix the problem. It might even resolve on its own once the servers for the new Black Ops 7 game become stable.

Black Ops 7 is almost guaranteed to be a major game release in 2025, simply because it’s part of the popular *Call of Duty* franchise. However, the game is also trying some new things – like a bigger focus on cooperative play in the campaign and a large-scale ‘Skirmish’ mode reminiscent of *Battlefield* – which could make it stand out from previous *Call of Duty* titles.
The official reveal of Black Ops 7 gameplay didn’t excite many fans, and there’s concern the game will feature over-the-top, cartoonish character skins again. This worry comes after developers stated that cosmetic items won’t necessarily fit the realistic tone of the game, which seems to contradict their previous commitment to creating skins that feel true to the Call of Duty universe.
I’m really not excited about playing a Call of Duty game right now. I’m much more interested in Battlefield 6, which looks like it will be one of the best multiplayer shooters in a long time when it comes out on October 10th. Everything I’ve seen suggests it’s going to overshadow the next Black Ops game.
Okay, so I’m really excited about Black Ops 7, and if you want to jump into the beta early, you’ll need to preorder. It’s currently available for $69.99 on pretty much every platform – Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 5, and even PS4. I’ve already got my preorder in!
