Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 01 Reloaded preload goes live on Battle.net and, like me, clearly ate too much over the holidays

As an analyst, I can confirm that Activision has announced the launch date for Season 01 Reloaded in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. They’ve also given us a first look at the new maps coming to the game’s Multiplayer mode.

It looks like a large update is now available to preload, at least on Battle.net. Did you notice the word “big” was emphasized?

The game’s initial download size is quite large, as anyone who’s been indulging over the holidays can probably tell! Content creator MrDalekJD recently shared a look at how much space the preload took up on his system.

Keep in mind, your download size might be smaller. If you haven’t installed all the game modes, you likely won’t experience such a massive download.

That initial download, or ‘preload,’ feels like having to download the whole game all over again. On my computer, using the Xbox app, the total installation size – including Warzone – is almost 170 gigabytes.

So, it looks like another large download is required this week, but what’s actually new? We’re getting three multiplayer maps: Yakei is completely new, Meltdown has been remastered from a previous version, and Fringe is returning from Black Ops 7.

A special event is planned to tie in with the new Fallout TV series, combining the worlds of two popular games owned by Microsoft. And, because I’m a big fan of Fallout, I’m likely to make an exception to my rule about not buying character skins this year.

Players can also look forward to a few new weapons being introduced, and the Directed Mode will be available on the second Zombies map, Astra Malorum.

A full blog post and patch notes are promised for January 7, so we’ll soon have the full picture.
