Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden Are So in Sync During Rare Public Outing

There’s something about Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden.

Actress Kate Hudson and musician Joel Madden were spotted on a casual date in New York City on April 4th, enjoying some quiet shopping together.

Cameron opted for a relaxed yet stylish look with a loose-fitting black blazer, a white t-shirt, and dark joggers. Her husband, married for 11 years, wore a burgundy and orange plaid shirt with jeans and leather boots.

Walking down the street, Benji, 47, offered to help Cameron, 53, by carrying a large black shopping bag for him.

As someone who’s followed their journey, it’s lovely to see Cameron and Benji thriving as a family. They’re really prioritizing a private life with their two adorable kids, Raddix, who’s six, and little Cardinal, who’s two. It’s clear they’ve found something special in each other – Cameron has even said she feels like a perfect match for Benji! It’s a sweet story, actually – they were first introduced way back in 2014 by a mutual friend, and now future sister-in-law, Nicole Richie.

In a 2024 interview on Joel Madden’s Artist Friendly podcast, Cameron shared that their marriage and family are what they’re most thankful for. They spoke about how much they’ve both grown and achieved together over the past ten years, saying they couldn’t have done it without each other.

The actress described her fast-paced career as like a rocket ship, but shared that her dog, Benji, helped her learn to slow down, appreciate the present, and center herself.

Cameron, who just got back to acting after a decade-long break, said, “He was a big help in understanding things.” She added that they complement each other well.

Benji feels the same way. In a 2025 Instagram post, he wrote a heartfelt message, calling her his “QUEEN” and praising her as a “BAD ASS WOMAN,” celebrating her many roles as a wife, mother, friend, partner, boss, and lover.

He shared that each year of marriage feels even better than the last. He described it as something truly special – not flawless, but genuine and dependable. He’s incredibly thankful to spend every day with his best friend, through thick and thin, and feels blessed to have such a wonderful life.

Just before their wedding, Cameron Diaz was seen with a ring that seemed to indicate she was engaged to Benji Madden.

Just after Cameron hinted at how large her engagement ring was, she and her partner got married at her home in Beverly Hills.

The newlyweds were all cozied up watching the Lakers play the Wizards in L.A.

Beyond getting married, Benji showed off his love for Cameron by getting her name tattooed on his chest.

Cameron Diaz shared the story of how she met her husband, Benji Madden, on Andy Cohen’s Radio Andy show.

She says the first thing she thought when she met her husband was that he was very attractive. She wondered how she hadn’t noticed him sooner, explaining they hadn’t previously moved in the same social circles.

Cameron explains that she officially met Benji when she hosted a dinner party at her home, and his brother, Joel Madden, and Joel’s wife, Nicole Richie, were also there. Joel asked if he could bring Benji along, and Cameron remembers thinking he was still very attractive when she saw him again.

Nicole Richie’s family – including her dad Lionel Richie, husband Joel Madden, sister-in-law Cameron, and brothers-in-law Josh and Benji – were all there to support her at the launch of Harlow 1960 x REVOLVE.

The two took another couple’s trip to Italy, proving their love remains strong. 

She told InStyle that marrying Benji was the happiest moment of her life. She describes him as an incredible person and a wonderful husband and partner. While she acknowledges that marriage takes effort, she emphasizes that it requires equal contribution from both partners – it’s a true 50/50 commitment, always.

Benji recently shared on Instagram that he’s been focusing on work, painting, creative projects, and family. He explained that he enjoys making special occasions an opportunity to publicly express his love for his wife. He went on to wish her a very happy birthday, describing her as his beautiful wife, best friend, partner, and an amazing mother to their daughter. He also acknowledged her success as the owner of Avaline wine and praised her skills as a chef, advisor, and collaborator.

The couple announce the arrival of their second child, a son named Cardinal Madden. 

“He is awesome,” they share in a joint Instagram post, “and We are all so happy he is here!”
