Camp Rock 3 Is Officially Coming: How Demi Lovato Is Involved

This is real, this is happening.

Camp Rock 3 has officially began shooting and some of its most famous campers are returning to jam.

Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas are returning to star in the third movie in the original Disney Channel series. Demi Lovato, who played Mitchie Torres, will also be involved as an executive producer.

Connect 3 is kicking off a major reunion tour, but they’re missing an opening act. They return to Camp Rock, the place where it all began, to find fresh talent. The press release stated that as campers compete for the spot, drama unfolds – friendships are strained, surprising partnerships form, secrets are revealed, and romances blossom.

I’m so excited for *Camp Rock 3*! It’s fantastic news that Maria Canals-Barrera is coming back as Connie Torres – she’s always been a favorite! And I can’t wait to see the new additions to the cast – Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, and Lumi Pollack. I think they’ll be a great fit!

Joe, known for his roles in *Camp Rock* and *Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam* alongside his brothers and Demi Lovato, shared a sneak peek with his fans of the movie set in Vancouver, British Columbia.

In a video posted to Instagram on September 17th, singer Shane Gray – known for “Burnin’ Up” – jokingly introduces himself while wearing a leather jacket, sunglasses, and a red and white t-shirt. As the camera pulls back, viewers see he’s standing on a dock with a sign that says “Camp Rock 3.”

Confirming that it’s on, Joe captioned the video, “Close enough. Welcome back Shane Gray.”

Joe reunited with Nick and Kevin for a nostalgic recreation of their famous limo scene, where they pretended to send Shane Gray away to camp. They captioned the post, “Good morning campers.”

Even though Demi Lovato isn‘t planning to act again, she responded to the news on her Instagram Story on September 17th. She posted alongside the official announcement artwork, writing, “Another one, but make it camp!! Good luck to this next group of campers.”

This news follows a hint Joe dropped last month about a potential third *Camp Rock* movie. During an appearance on the August 12th episode of *Hot Ones Versus*, he was asked to read a recent note on his phone, and he unexpectedly announced, “Read *Camp Rock 3*.”

Demi Lovato, who recently performed with the Jonas Brothers in New Jersey, hadn’t said much about being in a movie until now. She hinted at a possible return to acting during a September 16th appearance on *Watch What Happens Live*, but kept details under wraps until the official announcement.

This news follows a hint Joe dropped last month about the movie – which doesn’t have a release date yet. During an appearance on the August 12th episode of *Hot Ones Versus*, he was asked to read a recent note on his phone, and he announced, “Read *Camp Rock 3*.”

Demi Lovato, who recently performed with the Jonas Brothers in New Jersey, hadn’t said much about being in a sequel until now. She playfully hinted at a possible return during a September 16th appearance on *Watch What Happens Live*, but kept details under wraps until the official announcement.

Demi, 33, mentioned she saw a comment from Joe and expressed enthusiasm for the next generation of artists. She hinted that more information would be revealed later, saying, ‘You’ll just have to wait and see,’ while speaking with host Andy Cohen.

He was Shane Gray for crying out loud!

Joe Jonas, the lead singer of the Jonas Brothers, starred as a brooding rock star in the movie *Camp Rock*, a role he playfully references by often recreating scenes from the film for his fans.

Everyone thought Joe would go solo after the group broke up in 2013, particularly since he’d already released a solo album before they split. However, he actually found fame with his band, DNCE, and their popular song, “Cake By the Ocean.”

Plus there was that whole Jonas Brothers rebirth.

Before marrying Sophie Turner from *Game of Thrones* in 2016, Joe dated both Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid. They got engaged in October 2017.

After the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, Joe and Sophie had a secret wedding ceremony in Las Vegas, playfully exchanging ring pops instead of traditional wedding rings. They followed this with a more formal wedding celebration in France.

Life definitely throws you curveballs, doesn’t it? My heart goes out to this couple – they built a beautiful family with two sweet daughters, Willa, who came along in July 2020, and then little Delphine two years later. Sadly, they recently announced they’re going their separate ways in 2023. It’s a reminder that even with love and family, things don’t always stay as planned.

She told *Harper’s Bazaar* in 2024 that the breakup was really difficult. “We had a wonderful connection, and it hurt a lot,” she explained.

Demi Lovato became famous playing Mitchie Torres, and then went on to star in her own Disney Channel show, *Sonny With a Chance*, for two years.

Demi’s career really blossomed after leaving the network, with popular songs like “Confident,” “Sorry, Not Sorry,” and “Cool for the Summer,” plus seven full albums. She’s also appeared on television as a judge on *The X Factor* and with guest roles on *Glee* and *Will & Grace*.

The pop star got engaged to Max Ehrich in July 2020, but they broke up after just two months. She then began dating musician Jutes in August 2022, and they got married in May 2025.

Demi Lovato has openly discussed her struggles with mental health for the past ten years. In the 2021 documentary series, *Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil*, she detailed her life-threatening drug overdose in 2018.

Though the youngest brother played a smaller role as Nate Gray in two movies, Nick Jonas was the only one to continue acting. He’s known for his roles in the intense MMA drama *Kingdom* and the TV show *Scream Queens*. He also appeared in the blockbuster film *Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle* and its 2019 sequel, and in 2020, he was a coach on *The Voice*.

Nick also found success as a solo musician, releasing two albums and achieving a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with his song “Jealous.”

In 2019, after The Jonas Brothers announced their reunion and released the popular song “Sucker,” Nick Jonas publicly took responsibility for the band’s split five years earlier in their documentary, *Chasing Happiness*.

He married actress Priyanka Chopra in a lavish, multi-day wedding celebration in India in December 2018. They welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, in January 2022.

“Yeah man, this is where Connect 3…connected.”

The oldest Jonas brother played Jason Gray, a member of the popular band in the movie and a fan of Camp Rock. The brothers later starred in their own Disney Channel show, Jonas, for two seasons, all while continuing to make music together as The Jonas Brothers.

After the band took a break in 2010, Kevin Jonas focused on his family with Danielle Jonas. They had two daughters, Alena Rose in 2014 and Valentina Angelina in 2016, and starred in the reality series *Married to Jonas*. Kevin also became an entrepreneur, starting JonasWerner, a real estate and construction company, and serving as CEO of The Blu Market Company. He even made a quick appearance on *The Real Housewives of New Jersey* as a contractor.

Following early roles in movies like *Step Up* and *Cheaper by the Dozen*, as well as appearances on *The Suite Life of Zack & Cody*, Alyson landed the role of Caitlyn Gellar, a young woman hoping to become a producer and dancer.

In addition to appearing in two *Step Up* sequels, Alyson has done voice work for the *Kingdom Hearts* video games and still voices the character Isabella on Disney’s popular animated show *Phineas & Ferb*.

I remember being so moved when Alyson shared their story in *Teen Vogue* back in 2018. They wrote so honestly about falling for their dance instructor, who was a woman, and it really resonated with me. It was amazing to then hear that experience actually inspired their song, ‘When It’s Right’ – it just felt so authentic and special!

Speaking with TopMob News, they admitted coming out was a bit frightening, but ultimately worthwhile. They explained it’s a really exciting and liberating time, allowing them to truly be themselves.

Oh my gosh, 2019 was HUGE for Alyson! They completely shocked everyone – in the *best* way – by shaving their head for the “Stripped Bare” video. It was such a powerful visual, and then they were so brave and opened up about everything they’d been through – battling mental health issues and, even more incredibly, overcoming an eating disorder. It was just… inspiring. I’ve been a fan ever since, and seeing their vulnerability meant the world.

As she shared with *People* magazine, “It was amazing how much baggage – doubts, worries, and insecurities – I shed with every haircut, and I’m happy to leave it all behind.”

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what happened later that year! They absolutely KILLED it at the VMAs! Seriously, everyone was talking about it. They teamed up with the ICONIC Missy Elliott – can you even imagine?! – and performed “Work It.” It was insane because they were *in* the original “Work It” video, like, seventeen years before! It was a full-circle moment and I nearly lost my mind!

In August 2025, Alyson released their memoir Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything.

Following her role as Tess Tyler in *Camp Rock*, Meaghan starred in *Mean Girls 2* and later played Bianca Stratford in the television series *10 Things I Hate About You*.

I’ve been a fan of Meaghan for ages, and I was so excited to see her popping up in shows like *Jessie, Melissa & Joey* and even a serious role on *House*! She was fantastic in her recurring role on MTV’s *Awkward*, and I was thrilled to read she made her stage debut in London with *The Actor’s Nightmare* back in 2019. It’s amazing to see all the different things she’s been up to!

Meaghan married British actor Oli Higginson in September 2016.

Roshon Fegan first gained recognition playing dancer and rapper Sander Loyer in the *Camp Rock* movies. He then went on to star in the popular Disney Channel series *Shake It Up* alongside Zendaya and Bella Thorne for three seasons.

I’ve been a fan for years, and it’s been amazing to watch his career grow! I remember when he was on *Dancing With the Stars* back in 2012, and I’ve loved seeing him pop up in some of my favorite shows like *Insecure*, *Crazy Ex-Girlfriend*, and *Greenleaf*. He’s so talented!

Fegan started his own record label, Iconomous, and releases music under the name ROSHON.

Besides playing camper Ella Pador, Anna Maria is also remembered for her role as Ashley Dewitt on the popular show *Hannah Montana*. Following *Hannah Montana*, she appeared in guest roles on *Baby Daddy* and the *Charmed* reboot, and she starred in the 2011 Broadway revival of *Godspell*.

Former Disney star Bridgit Mendler married Scott Kline Jr. in 2019. Uzo Aduba, known for her role in *Orange Is the New Black*, was her maid of honor. They had a daughter, Amelia Grace, in June 2021.

Canadian rapper and actor Ross Butler starred as breakdancer Barron James in both *Camp Rock* films. He currently works as a songwriter, producer, and choreographer.

Jordan remained friends with Demi, posting a sweet Instagram tribute in December 2019.

He wrote that he’d known me for over ten years and always considered me a true and loyal friend to both him and his family. He finished by saying he’d always support me.

Aaryn, who played singer and dancer Lola Scott in the original *Camp Rock* movie, didn’t reprise her role in *Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam*, making her one of the few cast members not to return.

After becoming known for her role in a Disney Channel Original Movie, the Canadian performer continues to act and sing, and also shares content on her own YouTube channel.

Jasmine Richards, a Canadian singer, played Margaret “Peggy” Dupree in both *Camp Rock* films. Before that, she was on the TV show *Naturally, Sadie*, and later she appeared in *Bomb Girls*.

Jasmine married Mike Caci in September 2018, and they had a son, Luke, in September 2021. She works as a content creator and manages social media.

The actor who played Brown Cesario, the camp owner, has since appeared in popular TV series like *90210*, *Orphan Black*, *Reign*, *Atlanta*, and *House of the Dragon*. He previously starred alongside Rupert Grint (known from *Harry Potter*) in the TV series *Snatch*, and became a regular cast member starting in the second season.

Daniel also appeared in Netflix’s 2017 movie A Christmas Prince and 2025’s The Last Supper.

Julie’s Dee La Duke helped mentor the campers as the musical director in both films.

She was a regular on the TV show *The Middle* for multiple seasons. She also appeared in shows like *Coffee House Chronicles* and the 2023 movie *Craft Me a Romance*, and she contributed as a writer for the sitcom *Melissa & Joey*.
