The music world has lost a bright light.

Camryn Magness, a 26-year-old singer who previously toured with the band One Direction, has passed away, according to a heartfelt announcement from her family and friends.

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Camryn, a truly special person who brought joy to everyone she met. She lived life with incredible energy and kindness, whether she was swimming or performing. We will always remember her bright and playful spirit. Though she is gone, her memory will live on, like a wave returning to shore. We love you deeply, Camryn, and will cherish you forever. Rest peacefully.

Camryn passed away on December 5th after being hit by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter, according to several news reports. Her family has not released details about her death.

The statement asked for thoughts and prayers for Camryn’s family and friends as they cope with this loss, adding that she will be dearly remembered.

Camryn’s online obituary celebrated her as a lively, courageous, and cherished person, and highlighted the lasting impact of her music.

The obituary described Camryn as a remarkably talented performer whose voice and music came from deep within her. Whether she was performing on stage, playing for family, or comforting someone with a song, her music always showed her kind heart, bravery, and boundless imagination.

Camryn’s obituary highlighted her love for her fiancé, Christian, and described how they were excitedly planning a future together. They dreamed of a life filled with happiness, companionship, and especially, spoiling their beloved dogs, Brooklyn and Zeppelin.

The singer began her music career at the young age of 8, recording a demo that she sent to Jeff Pringle, who later became her manager.

Honestly, it all really took off for me back in 2010 when I started my YouTube channel. It was incredible! Just two years later, I got the amazing opportunity to open for One Direction on their ‘Up All Night’ tour, and then again the following year for ‘Take Me Home.’ Beyond that, I’ve been so lucky to share the stage with some fantastic artists like Cody Simpson and Fifth Harmony throughout my career. It’s been a dream!

As someone who’s been following the music scene for years, I remember Camryn mentioning how incredibly supportive the One Direction fanbase was when she was first starting out. It was really heartwarming to hear how welcoming they were to a new artist!

She remembered telling Teen Vogue in 2012 that she was relatively unknown before the tour began. She loved the feeling of having people recognize her work and tell her she’d done a good job, and that first time it happened was incredibly exciting.

As she told CBS News later that same year, “At the end of it all, it went amazing.”

After all, she was born to sing.

She shared that she’s been singing for as long as she can remember. Her first talent show, when she was around seven years old, was a scary but defining moment. Standing in front of an audience made her realize she wanted to sing forever.
